Yeah, hence the deleted comment. You're totally right.

Guess the first picture of him as a kid threw me off and I didn't pay attention to the one of him in the cemetery.

My bad.

I don't think the family picture has anything to do with the accident to be honest. I just think it's there to show that the family had been broken. In quite a few "broken family pictures" I've seen, mostly in comics and manga and stuff, they depict the family years before the incident. just my thoughts.

Right now, Radeon is slightly ahead in terms of speed per dollar, but their power efficiency is shit, so on a laptop expect bad battery life with a radeon card. Basically if you want flat out speed and youre gonna have it plugged in anyways, go radeon. If you want low heat and long life, go Nvidia.
User avatar #66 - alria (12/03/2014) [-]
Thanks, that helps.

Just wanna add to the Nvidia vs Radeon thing here. If you don't plan on using an external keyboard, I'd definitely go with Nvidia. I go through laptops on the reg (I'm a gamer and developer/producer) and every single Radeon-equipped laptop got unbearably hot to the touch when running games. You simply couldn't rest your hand on them. So that might be a point worth considering as well.
User avatar #135 - alria (12/03/2014) [-]
Definitely, that is a good point. Thank you for the input.

Oh yeah, it is for gaming. I am picking the parts specifically so that I'll be able to play AC:Unity. I know the PC version is buggy as hell right now, but it will likely be a few months before I have the money to order all the parts.

Well, good luck to you! If it were me building a laptop for just gaming, (because it's a laptop) I'd recommend a decent i7 paired with a 970M. I know for a fact that XoticPC sells decent gaming laptops with those specs for sub-1500$. I'm planning on getting my next laptop from there. The specific one I'm referring to can be found in the workstation category (mostly because I'm going into engineering)

Alright, thanks. I have a friend who has been helping me pick the parts and all he had to say was that in his experience he has had a bit more trouble from NVIDIA in the past compared to AMD.
User avatar #58 - vleasian (12/03/2014) [-]
when you're building a computer, what's more important is that you get the parts for what you need. If you're gaming, sure an i7 four cores at 3.3GHz with all the jazz is great, but the best i5 processor with quad core and 3.1GHz and less features is more than enough since most games don't support multi-core yet. (someone correct me if I'm wrong)
GPU power tends to be the leading contender here.
For video production, high stats on both is required.
For college work, you don't need that much power unless you're going into engineering or art (and even then, it depends on the intensity of the work)
