vixenmacabre (04/02/2013) [-] In the way that I see so much content (on other websites too, Facebook for example) that slanders women. I protest the sexism I have to see everyday. I protest the way that other girls call the women in question 'sluts' and make it seem okay for guys to do the same. I also protest the way that when I, as a girl, say "Guys suck, he bailed on my date", I get torrential hatred - but thousands of males rejoice in the slandering of women by saying "She's a friendzoning bitch/hoe/slut!".

aerosol (04/02/2013) [-] Well, there are a lot of mean here and I suppose it's kind of a group mentality thing. People go along with it because it is in their nature to want attention and to be accepted as part of the group. I've heard women do the same thing when they talk about men. It's just human nature, you know? The reason that girls have been consistently made fun of on this site is because there have always been more guys here than girls. You can make fun of guys here, but it's just not something you should expect most people to understand. Especially men. We are easily frustrated by things that we don't understand.

I've educated myself on human mentality and gender interaction more than I have about internet memes and I'm not ashamed of that. I know there are lots of girls lurking on here that are too afraid to say they're bothered by the constant stream of sexist jokes but I'm not. I probably shouldn't have said 'guys are useless', but by my logic, if harsh words are used to generalise women all the time, why can't I say something about guys? I would of course prefer if we didn't generalise each other... Especially because I see SO much of it happening to girls and... well, I'm a girl.

aerosol (04/02/2013) [-] Me too! Especially when it comes to matters of social justice. Some people hate to think about big topics like gender inequality and human nature, but I love it. I just love the feeling of ending a conversation with the sense that I've grown just a bit wiser and more tolerant of someone who thinks differently than me. It gives me hope in a subtle way.

Most people just don't reply or end with a troll and it's so unsatisfying because I was only saying what I know and they leave me with nothing. I like to think they are just angry about what I've said and it will eventually simmer into new knowledge. But it's good to get a response though and have something to think about myself (other than the fact that I should be back in the kitchen, haha).
But yeah, it's good to learn. I hope that someone might have learned from me, maybe they've taken a look through a different perspective, even if it was brief and painful for them (It seems to be sometimes, lol).
