To reach Terminal Velocity there has to be another force to counter the air resistance, to make the net force on the object zero. here there are no suck force. massive velocity and momenta are not forces.

lol, the object is moving perpendicular to gravity.There is no terminal velocity. It's in a constant state of deceleration til it stops.

Sorry, but that is incorrect. Anything traveling that fast through the air will reach terminal velocity. Terminal velocity is entirely unrelated to gravity, but has everything to do with the aerodynamic shape of the object and the air resistance. It will be constantly decelerating through the air, but would not stop moving, even after it hit the ground, because of the massive velocity and momenta it has

It'll travel forward alongside him only to be slowed down by air resistance. (and ground resistance if it hits the floor) Which means he'll only have to go back a few steps to pick it up.

The theoretical object would hit terminal velocity. Air resitance at that speed would be nearly negligible. It would land thousands of miles away from where he originally dropped it, not from where he would end up. He would have to go back more than a few steps to get it after he realized it fell, but the picture above would make no sense in this scenario.
