really, thats it? its still a giant badass MONSTER, i like the 1998 one for 5 reasons, 1. godzilla/zilla has loads of screen time unlike this one where hes around for 10 minutes and the rest hes just swimming in the ocean, 2. is that he just leaves humanity alone after that, even when they shoot the living FUCK out of him when he destroyed the golden gate bridge, 3. is that hes like a fucking hero to man even when in reality if there was a monster that big it would destroy literally everything before it went back into the ocean, 4. all the characters in the 1998 version had little back stories which was really nice, i mean you got to know a shitload about everybody, all the interesting characters are killed off, and 5. godzilla just shows up they go on about how theres an entire species of them under the sea and they're like, ok thats fine, but in 1998 they give the entire story of fucking zilla begining to end
#15 - virtigo (06/07/2014) [-]
'98 Zilla died by millitary missiles, it literally looks like a legit dinosaur, lots of screen time isn't fucking anything when it sucks, the thing about this Godzilla is how much of a king he shows the other monsters he is with good old fashioned dominance, plus all the build-up for the real essence that is Godzilla in the final showdown, also REAL CGI as opposed to the snot-paper of a digital imigary excuse that '98 was made of. It was WEAK. 2014 and Final Wars Godzilla was FILLED with power.

I'm gonna give '98 some cred, though. It gave me chills. Although be it not chills of joy. I think my goose bumps was literally filled with disgust.

'98 was a movie about a rampaging dinosaur with "Godzilla" stapled in his forehead.
#17 - iceguy (06/07/2014) [-]
you are really trying to want great cgi from a movie made 16 years ago, also even if it was fucking not named godzilla it would have been better than this shit, i mean look at every single plot hole in this movie, there are fuck tons of them you should be able to find one, this godzilla could have been defeated like fucking that if the military really wanted to kill him but they just left him alone, it was only the mutos that actually had the emp field, i will give this movie some credit, it was amazing when godzilla shot that fucking laser beam.

But still just because zilla died from the military doesn't mean it wasn't just as bad, i mean he was in MANHATTAN for fucks sake, the military destroyed a fuck load of shit when they tried to kill him, but the military in this movie just fucking let godzilla destroy San Fransico once the nuke plan doesn't work and the Asian scientist believes that godzilla can fight them, even though that is literally the stupidest idea ever, couldn't they have just put the nuke on a plane or a boat, GO AROUND the mutos and out to the ocean then lure them out there just by shooting them, that would have been a much better plan

I watched Jurassic Park.
#22 - virtigo (06/07/2014) [-]
My point is that if they didn't call that '98 abomination for Godzilla, it could have been a mediocre movie, looking past bad writing and CGI.
#16 - virtigo (06/07/2014) [-]
Also the acting sucked.

User avatar #24 - iceguy (06/07/2014) [-]
not as bad this movies acting, the onegood actor was killed off in the begining, i'll let you guess who that was hes the danger and the main character is just a slab of meat with only one emotion, getting back to his wife, he didnt even feel bad about that latino solider who died on the train tracks with hime that he made friends with, also for some reason just because ford is a bomb expert he is now a general of the army, giving orders to everyone even though hes just some motherfucker
User avatar #25 - virtigo (06/07/2014) [-]
Comparing him to mere mortals is kinda unfair.

Jokes aside, yeah, Bryan Cranston was the best actor, but not the only good one. The japanese professor and the main guys wife was pretty good, too. But the human story got overshadowed by Godzilla, imo.
User avatar #26 - iceguy (06/07/2014) [-]
overshadowed?, dude pacific motherfucking rim in all of its glory put in so much character development along with loads of amazing fights, the fact that this movie couldn't do that and give godzilla barely any screen time is just stupid
#27 - virtigo (06/07/2014) [-]
I'm not calling Godzilla a 10/10 movie, I'm saying the scenes WITH Godzilla is pretty much 10/10. The movie itself is more 7.5/10 at best.
Also, Pacific Rim had so many movie sins and clichés, though I enjoyed it almost as much as seeing the King of Monsters get reborn in all his glory.
'98, not so much. It was not a Godzilla movie and a mediocre monster movie at best.

Saying that there movies has beautiful character development is stupid because that's not what the directors mostly goes for. They go for making incredible action and fight scenes. Pacific Rim and Godzilla succeeded in this, '98 didn't.
User avatar #29 - iceguy (06/07/2014) [-]
i do respect your opinion but i really have to disagree when it comes to this movie, i've watched 98 godzilla so many times and i found so little wrong with it, that movie has a special place in my heart, im sorry i dont agree with you but the new godzilla was good in some ways as well.
User avatar #31 - virtigo (06/07/2014) [-]
I just have a penis of steel when it comes to Godzilla and '98 was kind of an insultment to him.
User avatar #28 - iceguy (06/07/2014) [-]
there were no other monsters in 98 and there shouldn't be, the movie is based around what would happen if a monster that size actually got into a highly crowded area, the characters themselves had a much better story than the ones in this, other than bryan cranston, the main character only had 1 thing about him, getting back to his wife, characters in the 98 version in my opinion have much better development and better stories than this one
User avatar #30 - virtigo (06/07/2014) [-]
Nostalgia Critic: Godzilla (1998) Whatever. I'm saying that '98 failed at even what it was trying and the fact that they tried to make it Godzilla drags it down so much more.

This guy makes my points come across the board more than my stupid writing would.

Mario party 10 was the 3ds one, not a numbered one though, I just call it 10, Its stupid cause it just like 9, takes EVERYTHING mario party was about(expansive boards, coins and stars and items to steal, Pissing off your friends, Minigames EVERY TURN, Fun board events and so on) and isntead Streamlines it to a bunch of crap with 1 currency, and no cool things and SUPER linear boards(Even mario party 8 had 2 linear boards, but you did loop them and the board mechanics where good enough to keep me playing and liking it)

dead pool is technically able to die but he just hasn't yet, dead pools healing factor is controlled by his will to live so if he ever loses the will to live he also losses his healing factor

I guess it would be shooting a little too far hoping to see him in the next Avangers movie, but maybe the next or something(?)
He already has his own game, so a movie shouldn't be too far off, imo
