I'd been looking at the Twin Snakes too. The local pawn shop always has it in stock, I may just pick it up even if I do enjoy MGS1. Thank you!

I'd definitely recommend it. I may be biased because it was my first experience with MGS1, but on the other hand, it was my first experience with MGS1 and I feel like I got just as much out of the series as most other fans.
No problem, man. I know early Metal Gear can be kinda hard to get into, but it's so worth it when you do. MG may well my favorite video game franchise ever if I'm being honest, you just need to be patient with the older games at first. But trust me, they'll grow on you.

I actually bought a collection of the first three, with Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3. I had planned to play through the series in a chronological order, from Snake Eater, to Revengeance, but I might have to break that and skip to the first.

Yeah, that's a good idea for later, but I'd play through them in release order first. That way it gets progressively better instead of being a weird roller coaster. Compared to modern games, Snake Eater seems archaic, but when you just finished MGS2, it's amazing.
If you really don't like MGS1, I'd recommend playing Twin Snakes if you can get your hands on it and have a Wii or Gamecube. It's just MGS1 with better graphics and MGS2's engine. People who bitch about it being a bad remake are usually influenced too heavily by nostalgia-- I think it's a great remake.
