Hello, I am USarmyExplain, I am an army veteran who is looking to answer some fucking explanations. I really haven't been paying attention to these things, I just wanted to get the name before anyone else did.

Mostly I want to answer questions about the "fog of war", like if you ever wanted to know the real story behind anyone that was KIA in the us army instead of the standard "he died a hero" bs the feed everyone. I either know the answer, or can find it.

That is constructive. The plan is like this:

I fucking love submarines. You know. Down there, with silence and water all around. All you have is sonar, tech, radars and scanners. I want to replicate that feeling of isolation. Like standing in the middle of the forest during night. Covered with darkness and air all around. You can hear them coming. You can see that red dots moving on the radar. They are close. You have to turn off the lights. And sit still. Wait for them to leave. Or attack from the back, when they are passing by. I want that. I am doing that.

The bottomline: there will be shit tons of various Interface elements that tells you everything about your surrounding and the directions. So you eyes constantly shifts from radar to screen. Back and forth. Combat is deadly and fats paced. You have to wait for the right opportunity. To strike before they do. No going all out with cannons shooting and shit.

Damn that sounds dangerously spooky. Just to clarify, will there be like an objective? Like, you arent just exploring, you are actively looking for something, an active plot device to send you back? A fuel source? Weapons/ammunition of some kind?

Imo it would be scarier if people were constantly worrying about their resources, to add another layer of stress. But thats just me, and im not an expert on horror by any means Love it a bunch tho man!

Oh I have it all figured. For starters I am a huge fan of open world + optional main quest. You know, like in The Elder Scrolls saga. Where you DO have some world to save, but you spend most of the game just screwing around with the world. Leaving the main quest as a "cherry on top". Because some sort of main quest, main goal IS needed. That's the thing I've always missed in Minecraft. The game is awesome. But something in the back of my skull just need that "end goal", an alibi. A meaning to all of this. So the game - yes will have a very interesting story. You might want to check out that "Teaser Trailer" link I've left somewhere around here. It explains a lot.

Also - many endings and Final ending. And "New Game+" mode. Where you replay the game but with most of your pilot's skill left intact. The normal ending can be achieved by anyone. But to get the Final Ending, you have to go out of your way and explore. Its quite hidden too.

As of survival elements - I got plenty. There is increasing negative energy radiation which you have to keep low or otherwise you will start seeing some weird shit like on Acid or shrooms. There is Energy shortage, so you have to decide what's the best way to use it. There is scavenging other ships derelicts for new tech and upgrades... And that's only the tip of Iceberg.

I could say more but I don't want to spoil the fun for you.

That sounds awesome. Wouldn't it be terrifying if there was an anglerfish style creature(if there isn't already) that disguises as an abandoned ship with some of its lights on, and if you get close to it it try's to devour you with its big metallic teeth!

You're low on resources, barely managed to hide away from a few dangerous ships, and you've managed to find a ship that might have what you need. You move in to search it. The front body of the ship tears open into metal teeth, and it rushes at you.

You remind me of the risk of rain dev group, not a lot of staff, but the game may be incredibly fun, despite some simplistic designs. Also be sure you take as much time as needed with it's development, and if you make something you don't think really fits that isn't really spoilerrific for the in game's exploration/story/mechanics, my advice is to try asking fans about it and decide on what you ca/should do with it.
I'mean no dev so idk if that helps but if it does then cool
Also the atmosphere seems to give the right vibe from what I saw in the teaser, looking forward to what's to come

I am 32 years old fuckturd. I have a hot wife and an awesome 5yo son. I have a job that I more or less enjoy and which pays some of my bills.

And this game - I am doing out of pure passion. I want this to be the masterpiece of my life. Something the people will rememeber me for. Something that will make my wife and son proud.

What else is there to say?
I'm a dreamer.

Sounds like an absolute masterpiece my man, i watched the link and it does seem very nice, the atmosphere is very "eldritch". Cant wait for updates, especially since that teaser was so well made, id love to see one with monsters in it.

Good luck broskie, and if you do make a secret ending PLEASE make an admin easter egg, like you find a broken ship that seems to belong to NK, called the Admin or something

Hahah! You should have play my previous game I am well known for secret references and Easter eggs.

And I'm glad you liked the trailer. It was hard to do but I didn't paid a lot of attention to it. I have a 7yo PC and I couldn't really put a lot of fireworks into it. Leave a alone FullHD format. Plus, I didn't had a lot of things to show back then.

It looks like it has potential. Like, "give it a shoot" worth. Though it's as you yourself said, very early in development, and doesn't have much to show for it, so there's not much to judge.

But one could sure make use of that setting.

Now, suggestions from what I've seen....

The ship.... looks very.... alien.... somewhat organic? I'd say to make something more familiar, that the players could look at it and say "Yeah, that looks human made. Looks like some advanced tech, but yeah, I can picture that machine". That itself would add a whole 'nother factor in making your surround even weirder, and the player further out of place.

One of the "settings" in the videos seemed to have a bunch of chain links crossing around space. Personally, I'd say to take those off, they are.... too familiar. Go hard on the impossible geometries and indescriptible colors. One of those geometric figures that are impossible and the ship flies through them overlapping it's figures in impossible ways. I'd say if done right that could lead to some mind fuckeries.

I imagine you'll be making use of... some kind of.... dynamic zoom? I'm sure there's a more appropriate name I'm unaware off
You know, those things where the players point of view zooms out, to show how really small the ship you're piloting is in comparison to some eldritch horror you stumbled upon? That would be awesome. "Oh! Look at this! What a cute thing! I haven't seen anything so adorable around! My oh my, aren't you ju- why is the camera movin-..... Oh.... that is it's EYE?!? FUCKFUCKFUCK


That's... What I got from the top of my head.

That is all my person opinion, hope I haven't stepped on any toes.

Actually I have a lot more to show, but I do not have it recorded in any way I'll do that once I am done with the combat system. Because yes - I just started the combat module.

So what is done so far:
-sector generator
-15 x shadow elements
-15 x Light clouds elements
-10 x neutral sector creatures
-2 weapons
-Light system On and Off control

As of the ship - it actually is. I mean, when the guys at Great Collider had open a portal big enough - this thing breached in. The structure is mostly metal based. But all tech and computing is semi-organic. Kind a "biological computer".

Chains are to stay because, when the world is a huge chaos vortex - it also has many known elements. As I've mentioned somewhere around here - the plane of existence the player is exploring is like a interdimensional trashdump. Various realities "bleeds in" into here. Some of them merge and mix with each other, some of them remain intact but gets distorted. Basically I need both the "alien" and and "familiar" elements. Of course in favor of the 1st.

I need that, because from game design perspective - the players needs something he can relate to. If the whole game will be surreal mumbo jumbo - it will only push people away. So the catch is to find the "golden middle". Where people can see and experienced things they had never before, but the same time - they have enough of familiar elements, to not feel like on Acid Trip.

Dynamic Zoom already done and ready. Do you like Lovecraft? Do you like whales? Because you'll be getting both in game. A huge tentacle whale with shit load of eyes, covering the entire screen. How about that? Did I get your attention?

Looks pretty interesting so far, the only constructive criticism I have is that the foreground looks like it is heavily obstructing the view of the ship. I think I can see where you are going with it, from a visual standpoint it looks great, but from a player standpoint I want to actually see the area I'm operating in.
Just in a sense of realism, I would like to see what the pilot does, maybe make a forward field of view that's not obstructed by the foreground or where the lights illuminate isn't obstructed. I also think that would add another level to the depth of play, you would have to maneuver your ship to maintain situational awareness.
