Really? Well I'm 18, never read the books, and only recently saw LotR. I really liked the Hobbit movies, but that might just be because I'm not very critical of movies in general. Hell I even though Eragon wasn't that bad. By the way, everyone seems to be talking as though all 3 Hobbit movies have been released. Did the 3rd one come out in theaters recently and I just somehow never heard of it?

The issue is there are going to be 3 full length movies based on a 300 page book. That's a LOT of filler.

Ya so? Shawshank Redemption was a short story and it's 3 hours long around. Most novels wouldn't fit a single movie for 2 hours or less.

300 pages over 3 movies? That's a lot of making up
User avatar #167 - kinginyellow (04/19/2014) [-]
Again, shawshank is only 94 pages, and it's around 3 HOURS
#40 - xcoreyx (04/18/2014) [-]
Seems more like a chance to actually make the movies include everything from the book, which basically never happens
#41 - nobleknight (04/18/2014) [-]
Yeah but you don't need 3 movies to do that for this book.
User avatar #30 - sanguinemybrother (04/18/2014) [-]
I thought the first movie was a little slow, but the second movie was brilliant, how can you say it wasn't entertaining? Maybe comparing it to LotR isn't the best way to go about it, compare it to any other film and it is pretty awesome.

once again, while some hollow points do expand, many of them fragment. and the hollow points that do expand don't expand as much as a soft point would.

either way, yeah, more damage than FMJ. Hollow points are the ammunition of choice for self defense, or police work. less ammo to put the target down. soft points and hollow points are outlawed for use in war by the Geneva convention.

soft points are used more for hunting, since they expand better, and therefore can take down a larger target.

Just joking by the way I'm only US/Canadian dual.

Wanting to believe in a comforting idea does not lend the idea to be any more true or false, and rationally speaking, there is no need to have any faith in anything you do not have evidence for.

And it is incredibly unlikely, at least when dealing with evolution (not creation as a whole), that we're on the wrong track. There's just too much evidence supporting it.

And once you watch it, you'll see that the debate was not on the existence of the world; it was on evolution and evolution's role in education only. And evolution is a scientific fact. Nobody here was ever claiming anything about the existence of the world, really, merely how we humans came to be on a scientific basis.
User avatar #272 - suxferyu (02/07/2014) [-]
the way i see it, science and religion can co-exist. there are so many other things to do in science, why ague about where we came from? it doesn't matter all that much, instead of focusing on where we came from that gets us pretty much nowhere, we should spend our energy and resoources on things like better medicines, vaccines, shit like that so we can live longer and see more of the awesome shit in the future
User avatar #265 - zzforrest (02/07/2014) [-]
I think that you and I could get along. Religion is not along the lines of fact and evidence, rather faith and belief. Otherwise, would religion not be science? If you took a scientific look to religion, the entire thing would be nullified. But if you took a religious look to science, it would be subjective branches of universal explanations (Platonism ftw though). They aren't against each other, and the people who try and compare science and religion as though they are similar disciplines is simply ignorant.
