You're the first other person I've met on FunnyJunk with Tourette's. My tics didn't fade after puberty. I still have them, strong as ever. I just have to hide them at work. You're lucky, ubadubba. I always hoped mine would go away, but it hasn't. It's nice to meet somebody else on here who knows what it's like, though.

I had have? If it goes away, does one still have it deep down or what? Tourette's during early high school. Not sure where it came from, but I eventually just found myself squinting my eyes constantly and making grunting noises. They both made me feel better for a split second, so oftentimes after I did it once, I would continue to do it repeatedly. The only solution was to not think about it, but even then, it would still happen anyway.
It faded away after a couple of years, and thank fucking lord, because that shit annoyed the fuck out of me. ESPECIALLY the squinting. I would barely even be able to see straight when it got bad; I would just be in a perpetual loop of squinting, then opening my eyes again just so I could squint harder. What are your tics and how do you deal with them?

I have a lot of facial movements and low grunts that you can only hear if you're right next to me. Then some that come and go. Sometimes grinding my teeth, or lifting my leg, or random shit like that. I might have one for two months and then it goes away and never comes back. But mainly the face movements and grunts. I usually try to hide them at work since I could get in trouble if I didn't. Then I just let it go while I'm at home since my wife is really understanding of it all.

It's hard to imagine how I stopped mine, for as far as I know, they simply faded away and I never thought about them again, but I figure ceasing them entirely might help if you can control it. I have a good fear that if I just started simulating my grunts and squints again, I would resume what I thought was long dead. I vaguely remember forcing myself not to do them, IE, any time I thought of doing it, I would try as hard as I could not to. Most of the time, it didn't work, but it did become more infrequent.
