I suppose you have the ghost just in time for the psychic gym, but you don't really get to train them. The only two ghosts are Duskull and Shuppet so you have to choose one of those guys. I usually go with Shuppet.

I know! In most of the other gaemz there is a haunted place you can fly to... But i suppose there is that tower where you get the hm at the top... But there arent many ghost pokemon even THERE

when you only have a couple of HP after fighting through a cave and you run into a zubat, you dont want to fight but your too close to getting out to bother with a potion, running is the simplest option but when that fails.... youre screwed

You mean you actually took significant damage in a cave? Even Victory Road doesn't offer much in the way of punishment, unless you get lost. The only gen where I was actually wiped in victory road was the 3rd because Wally shows up at the end and your pokemon are probably fairly weak by this point.
