I don't like being social. She's very very social. Going to award places and shit.
I'm broke. Will be for the next couple of years.
We live in opposite corners of the city. And I can't really leave home much anyways due to responsibilities.
Don't stay much in contact via technology because she's retarded with tech.
She's got old relationship issues.
And lastly, we got only 3 months left before we ship off to different colleges.

Too much stuff.

Yeah, people can go drill themselves.
But since she's very social and on the pedestal of achievements here, everyone's opinions matter to her even though she says no. It's a bit of trip here.
We won't really work out anyway, so I'm laying this matter to die.

As long as that combination doesn't involve wind power murdering the local bird population and covering fields in concrete to make stupid looking fans, I'm fine with it.

I like how wind generators look, plus birds poop on my car. But they just don't generate enough for the resources they take up.

Nuclear for bulk, Hydro for renewablility and water, Geothermal for location and hot water, Solar to make it look like it's eco-friendly.

Go with nuclear energy while developing more efficient renewable sources. Just because nuclear won't last us an infinite amount of time doesn't mean that we shouldn't exploit its goods.

#10 - thechosentroll (01/07/2016) [-]
Well, then if we're gonna be using those criteria, my money's on geothermal. It's basically a less productive coal power plant without the coal. It's sustainable, economically viable and provides you with both power and hot water. And, unlike hydro, it can be built anywhere.

In theory, at least. In practice, people are still trying to figure out an effective way of drilling deep enough to get to the hot enough rocks in regions that aren't volcanicly active. Still, that's just drilling a fucking hole. I'm sure they're gonna come up with a solution soon enough.
#11 - turbanmasher (01/07/2016) [-]
Ahh yes geothermal is a good one. Great way to go for rural housing too, as you said power and hot water. Though it's pretty costly for that.

Obviously one power source is never gonna be ideal for everything, but rather a combination is key.

Well, technically wind energy is non renewable, too, because eventually the sun's going to go supernova and blow up the planet. Except it doesn't matter, because it's going to be billions of years from now. In the same way, nuclear power is going to last us a looooooooooooooooooooong-ass time. Certainly enough to come up with an efficient renewable source of energy.
#9 - turbanmasher (01/07/2016) [-]
Yes but the definition for renewable energy is that it can be replenished on a human timescale. I remember the cutoff being around 200 years. Once you use nuclear fuel there is no way to get it back. Oil (fossil) is going to last us a long time too, but it will run out.

The point i'm trying to make is that just because it's going to last a loooooooooooong ass time doesn't mean we should rely on it.

And if you wanna go sustainable, with a minimal effect on the environment, and the added benefit of water storage, you go hydro.

As a frequenter of Imgur, it's already stale and overused as fuck there. For the majority of December, every god damn post had someone saying "LOL GREAT CONTENT I GIVE THIS 5/7" in the top comments. It's beginning to settle down now finally. I despise these panacea memes that you can reference in any situation.
