It's a great song, but I am a little tired of it because it is overplayed. It's a shame that the radio does that :/

Over here in the UK it just kinda charted at 20-30 and that's been it so it's a lot more calm with it over here. I checked out some lyrical analysis though and I feel the song was really well thought about and written, musically and lyrically, especially since they didn't just shove in a beat because it's cool now, mostly because it came out 3 years ago.

No, the lyrics are important (arguably the most important, depending on who you ask). But generally, if you don't listen to the lyrics, you wouldn't be able to tell what song it is, as Artists usually sound the same from one track to another. So, it is usually the beat that makes the songs stick out and sound different. It isn't overly important for the beat to be good, but it should be different from the other ones on the album or whatever. Also, it isn't the only reason he dislikes Hopsin

Would you deny that hip-hop is a major genre? On iTunes and other shitty sites that have like 5 genres only, hip-hop is generally included in those, along with rock, pop, jazz and others. But in comparison to all these other genres, it is very new. The newer the genre, the less varied it is. So, hip-hop being the new genre it is, it is still very similar to how it was when it first started. Not exactly the same of course.
It is one of the fundamentals of hip-hop and one of the 5 elements.
And in rock, would you complain if the guitar playing was bad? Of course you would, it is a major part of it.

Yes, Hip-Hop is a major genre but, i'd say, it is the one of all those genres where I feel the lyricism is the most influential of all the elements in it, and the backing track is literally there to give a rhythm and fill in the back of a song. Rock has guitar solos, Jazz has trumpet or sax solos or whatever, but the person earlier was complaining that all the beats sound the same in Hopsin's songs, and I feel that's unimportant and not a reason to discount a hip-hop song. I understand that a beat does need to be there, but I feel it's relatively unimportant. Also, most rock music nowadays is just power chords and bullshit like that, so it's generally not worth complaining about, and people attempt to copy guitarists and so on, so it's more noticed. I don't sit in front of a computer trying to listen to one song and work out how to play the beat.

That has got to be the shittiest argument against it, and I hardly pay attention to beats.

No, you were saying that beats should be important in hip-hop because it started off with it. I was saying the exact same thing.
