At no point does Jesus further say that the old laws are no longer relevant or should not be followed. Further, “For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:18-19)

Jesus says the old law is still to be followed, and if he said it wasn't it'd be in direct contradiction to the old law itself.

There's only one big problem with that quote in that Jesus completed blasphemes the Law and convinces his followers to do the same. Do you know why Kosher is such a big deal to Jewish people? Because it is a belief (a very important one in the time of Jesus) that the essence of life exists within the blood. This is why Jews had to go through such lengths as to completely drain the blood from their livestock before consumption was allowed. www.koshercertification.org.uk/whatdoe.html

but then we take a look Jesus who in the Gospel of John tells the Jews that in order to have eternal life they must eat of the bread of life, who he referred to as himself. Even when the Jews argued that it had to be an error and that surely Jesus wasn't referring to cannibalism, Jesus replies: "Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you." John 6:53.

Then, the majority of the Jews leave him and desert him, with only the 12 remaining. Before they leave though, they argue and complain multiple times about this, but not just because of the simple reason of cannibalism, which was bad enough, but because Jesus told them to break the Laws of the Covenant.

If that is true the Jesus is a hypocrite and you just pointed out yet another contradiction in the bible.

Well, either Jesus is a hypocrite or when he fulfilled the Old Covenant, it was then superseded by the New Covenant, what with new laws and a new promise... who needs the Promised Land, when instead you can inherit the Kingdom of Heaven? Jesus made God our adoptive Father and not just Creator

But I won't bring up biblical contradictions. There's a lot of contradictions and rules that no longer apply in the Bible, however this particular issue is not one of those contradictions. It further shows the transition from the Old promise and the New one.

hmm ... Who knows. That's what I got taught in school. In high school, there's a class which teaches you about all the different religions. I remember us explaining the meaning of certain quotes and shit, and I was sure Jesus made a new pact. Oh well, I'm not Christian anyway, so I don't feel like browsing through the bible just to get internet points.

People should realise the Bible was written by a bunch of loons and not by 'God' himself...

I mean it's just a 2000 year old guidebook on how to live your life by some dudes. A lot has changed since then, believe me.

Do not make statments about something as a religion when you do not completly understand what going on in every church.
im preety sure churchs have doifferent views on what is in the bible and what you should read in it.

I'm not saying there's no good rules in there, I'm just saying you don't have to follow the WHOLE fucking book literally because it's written by 'some God'. And I can make all the statements I want, there's nothing on that in the Bible now is here...

Jesus says in the bible that the old contract is void and that he's making a new one. Basically, all the rules from the old testament don't count anymore, and only the rules specified by Jesus is "real" . This is also why Jesus was killed instead of that murderer The Jews believes only God can change the rules, and when Jesus changes em, he pretty much says "I'm god". The Jews of course didn't like this, and to them it was a bigger offence than murder.

It's the tree of knowledge of good and evil, not the tree of free will. We had free will to begin with, but to begin with we only understood doing things which are benevolent, because we were "made in god's image." That doesn't mean god looks like us physically, it means that we were born with pure and good spirits that would do no harm. Eating the fruit changed that and gave us the ability to make bad decisions. The snake didn't trick us into being free, that would be stupid. The snake took advantage of our freedom and tricked us into a way of being where we make shitty decisions. God allowed all of this to happen because he knew the outcome would be that we'd fall from grace, live for thousands upon thousands of years making mistakes, and eventually understand what defines a "mistake" and stop making them, thus returning to grace and living in a way where we once again only make benevolent decisions, but THIS time because we actually know better.

Seriously, if you've never read the scripture and actually paid attention to the message in the metaphor, you're going to have a very hard time understanding the individual pieces of the story, because you don't have the context.

literally everything that gives us anything was made by god, so really credit goes to god for everything. Doctors get offended when we say "thank god" because they want the credit, but if they also believed in god, they'd be thanking him for allowing the world to progress to a place where they can be a doctor and save lives. A huge piece of the doctrine is to glorify god for the things you do, because you do them in his name.

But didn't the snake fool Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge thus giving them free will. I thought god didn't want people them to do it.
