Preeetty much, yeah! Especially with facial hair. That stuff would definitely stick out haha might get stopped for photos. It's unusual to see a Japanese guy with any sort of facial hair, so they love anythin different. I had a blast.

Oh very loud... i can't even describe it. I could hear them loudly through noise cancelling headphones, just biking by.

thing is, I don't exactly have a really thick beard. but hey, as long as it's different, I'm good to go. might just have fun.

noise cancelling headphones? like the Bose ones?
if they can't stop the sound of pachinko machines, then shit, I don't know what will.

my folks use them.

I just use those Sony in-ear earphones. sound is great, in-ear part of earphone's soft, unlike older earphones and they're not too expensive.
downside is the thread-thingy. there'll be kinks in it after a while. and when that happens it's not long before you'll have to buy a new pair. gotta do that before Japan. depends on whether the danger of them being broken is really high or not.

been wondering about something else: spitting in the streets. when I walk to my university and I have this really bad taste in my mouth, I tend to just spit it out. are you allowed to do that in Japan? since, you know, the country is pretty clean and all.

Sound. Yeah I bought a new pair of headphones over there, they tend to be cheaper than overseas so you can afford to get better quality.

Ah, extremely frowned upon. So long as no one see's you do it, you should be fine. I mean, smoking was technically not allowed on the streets either, but I was never stopped. And I certainly wasn't the only one doing it. Spitting could technically be illegal, but I highly doubt it's uphelp strictly. Like most of their laws.

When I first started watching KissXSis I did not know where to start so I watched the OVAs. I then found out that is not the show so I just kinda stopped watching it.

I've heard pet girl is good but I have not gotten around to finishing it yet, after like a couple of years or so.

I kinda do, also I have been watching for quite a while I'm 18

shouldn't you be studying or something.
don't listen to me. I'm 21 and had to retake 2 exams, then failed a year at a university so now I'm at another university (and surprisingly enough passing every class so far. come next month, that might change. or not.)

a lot of people post that thing with dog girl mutation so there is no way that it is not main stream. I'm not doubting it is good its just that I don't have the urgency or motivation to watch it Think its more like saving it for a rainy day, I still haven't seen the majority of the Ghibli movie for that reason, because I know it will be good

get KissXSis of the hold list.
and watch the OVAs. they're getting close, but never beyond some dicktease. and that's without spoiling anything. and yet spoiling everything at the same time. the same shit happens in all episodes. nothing. at least nothing beyond a tease.

and Pet Girl of Sakurasou too.
not the dicktease part. it's a good series, worth the watch.

also: you seem to have a shiteload of free time

Hell, i'm English and have similar Germanic properties. You'll be popular in Japan haha.

Yeah i'm usually a fan of the sweeter stuff, but it does draw you into getting drunker faster.

I haven't, no. Some places I walked past were even up for 1 yen pachinko (you will likely collect a LOT of these, it's the only decent way to get rid of them lol) I reckon it'll be about the same odds as a slot machine.

Pachinko parlors are godawfully loud though!

popular? how's that? simply by being white and tall?

currently trying to grow out my beard. trimming/shaving the sides of my face with only my moustache and a goatee left. needs to grow a little more and then I get to bind my beard together with a small rubber band. hope it looks badass.
as it's gonna be summer, I'll go for short hair. trimmed short. makes showering easier and means I don't have to worry about bad hair days.

is that still popular?

how loud are the parlors? should I bring something to block out the noise or is it something you'll get used to without going deaf?

You're from Norway? I met a bunch of Norwegians while I was in Japan haha and Swedes. You lot like to travel!

Yeah sounds about right, i'm not a big drinker either. And I only smoke cigars on occasion. But while you're over there, let loose would recommend. It's a blast.

Yeah sake is definitely an acquired taste, for sure.
#77 - trevanman (03/16/2016) [-]
to most people I count as one. to foreigners in Norway especially. just because I speak the language and have my...uhh...Germanic looks. tall, blonde (though going bald) and blue eyes

officially, I'm German. technically, I'm only half. the other half's Dutch.

quoting wikipedia here:
"Typical values are between -3 (sweet) and +10 (dry)"
I don't know whether I was wrong about the + and - or wikipedia was. I'm just gonna have to ask the folks at the brewery. I'm probably visiting the Hakatsuru brewery in Kobe.

ever tried pachinko? I've watched a few tutorials and read a few manuals. even went and tried finding a free online game (which sucked ass).
what are the chances of winning big time? I read using about 100 Yen isn't gonna win you anything for shit, but I wouldn't want to use too much coin on slotgames, as it were.

watch this:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3dffCWd-3E
1000 Yen goes in, display goes "10", press the button and small metal balls get into your container. so you have a bunch of balls, but what does the display then say? does it say "9", meaning you have 9 more containers of metal balls? the tutorials never explained that to me.
