 Yeah a lot of that stuff is up to interpretation since it's not really laid out for us. The way I see it, the protagonists of each game typically don't catch legendaries, they only defeat them in battle. The one exception I make for that headcanon is Black and White. So that means, to me, that Red defeated Mewtwo, who then fled from Cerulean Cave to hide in the Unknown Dungeon. This is supported by the fact that the dungeon is located right near the Pokemon Village, where Pokemon go to hide from humans. | ||
