But in the grand scheme of things the only hit the distribution system takes is in the first few hours after release. And they take measure to compensate for it, they bought temporary bandwidth at PAYG distribution points for the first day.

The thing is, distribution costs don't even get factored in to the cost of games when it comes to digital. The reason being is the size per customer. GTA was massive, game wise. It was 58gigs (or there abouts). However turning that into a cost is nigh on impossible when you're talking about a platform who's average bandwidth on a slow day is measured in hundreds of gbit.

But even if you did add it to the cost of the game, trying to work out the cost of a single 58gb download is just...microscopic to these people. Team Fortress 2 is 17gb and that's a free game. Don't forget, these people RUN data centers, they don't pay for traffic, they pay for the line as a whole. It doesn't matter how much or how little is going through it, they pay for it's existence.

Problem I usually have is consistency with other players to play with, but there is a big difference between steam users in general and the league community, so I could probably find someone in the forums on steam.

Graphics no, it looks cartooney as hell. Lore? Fuck no man have you even read character backgrounds? Music, not really no. Mechanics, LoL is much more simple than dota, too simple. Items are not diverse in league, they're mostly boring item with no actives that don't encourage skill or play.

Champion system means We have to play and earn champions, while only certain ones are given fro free every week. Witch means you can take the time to learn a champ. The first time I played Dota there were so many to choose from , and it gave 0 guidance. I wanted to play a supp character, but I didn't know how to find one. As it gave me 60 seconds to pick.
gameplay is not mechanics. Mechanics are different There are Gameplay mecahnics , and Game mechanics. Game mechanics being things like runes masteries number of champs , and bans. Game-play mechanics would be being able to flash over a wall.

They've had like 3 events tops. Dota on the other hand, has them frequently with background lore and player involvement. Music is subjective.
LoL is overly simple. Why have a back button? Why not just walk back to lane, spend money on a tp scroll? Where's the counterplay to the back button huh? dota doesn't because DoTA 1, the original mod didn't have it. Dota 2 is simply that improved many times over.
Items are simplistic though and many champion builds are identical or near enough to other champions. Sure, call it the meta whatever but you can't deny it. Maybe an odd champion picks up something different, but chances are mid champs will near enough share the same 6 items.
Or you could just have every hero for free so you can choose to pick what you like. Right now there's a tutorial system in place that is pretty damn helpful, and if you even bothered to just google "dota supports" it would be pretty obvious. 60 seconds doesn't matter if you're playing a bot match either.
Why do runes even exist? Why have something other than levels and items change the hero in anyway? Same goes for masteries. Gameplay comes into play a lot with items, much more so than league does. Dota has an item called blink dagger, which blinks you forward a chosen distance up to a cap. Where'd you think Flash came from?

No Many champions have similar builds in meta because its just that... meta. Counterplay is killing the mofo or hitting them before the animation completes. Runes and masteries exist so that no two players or champions are the same. In dota you will ALWAYS be able to calculate everything a charter can do. In LoL you can only estimate. If you can force your lane opponent to walk back to base, they're losing out on gold and experience they could be gaining, and vice versa. If they have a free "go home" button any time they want, they lose nothing, there's no big downside because they can be there in less than 15 seconds, maybe they lose one wave of minions at most.

First off you lose 8 seconds. as thats whats needed to call back? So for starters thats 8 seconds where you do absolutely nothing. Second it can be interrupted during the last second forcing you to waste another 8 seconds. If thats done you will miss three minion waves. Especially early game. Witch means your opponent should now be up by almost a kill. That means you had to call back , and even though you didn't die t doesn't matter.
