| But to respond directly to your point, religion teaches that inequality and intolerance are OK. You're either saying that this fact is bullshit, or that no one listens to religious teachings. Yes but that argument is the equivalent of saying 'Hey! If everyone else is doing this degenerative thing, I guess we can do it too!' If you have to use the worst examples of humanity to defend your point, I don't see that as much of a defence. I've heard a lot of his stuff about this topic and while I see what your point is, he's not wrong. The point he's making isn't that people who can't quote the bible ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE CHRISTIANS in such a way. His point is that a lot of people, when given a survey on their religion will say they are Christian, even if they don't believe in god. This is a big problem in England specifically, and it IS a problem because it means that higher ups in the C of E are getting power based off of the fact that people are, in their ignorance, identifying as Christian. Essentially, it's like voting for someone who you don't even know. #261 -
