I will be the first to confess, I've never touched one in person.
I would imagine it's more weather resistant; I know wolves, however soft and fluffy they may look, actually feel coarse as hell because that's what keeps them warm in the cold, cool in the heat and dry in damp weather while living in the wilds.
But they could definitely be softer than wolves - these actually came from fur farms, after all, so there must be some appeal.
The fur trade is where many wolfdogs and "pet wolves" originated from too, though - in fact many cross-bred wolves with dogs just to make a larger, fluffier "wolf" with a more valuable coat.
I'll keep this comment in mind and ask my friend what her pair of foxes feel like next time I talk to her though. I hope to raise them someday myself, once I do a lot more research on them and acquire the proper permits of course.

yea cause as fluffy as they might seem i have many doubts about the actuall fluffiness. I thought that a ferret coat would be nise and soft as well but i was wrong thats why i have my doubts
i love foxes and i always have the only "issue" i have with them is their bark so very anoying
how many wolfs, wolf-dogs do you have?

And, she is satin-soft too. She's "plush coated", meaning longer-haired and much, much softer than any regular husky or shepherd. Her coat is like silk converted into strands of wispy, wavy fur.
The best part is that she's also the cuddliest pupper you could ever meet, and very odor-free as well (doesn't even get a wet dog smell) so snuggling with her all night, every night, especially on chilly winter is just amazing.
She's like a personal heater who loves being a big fluffy bed hog, haha.
