that's great! Mine died for some reason. Was a long time ago, but I think my mom probably poisoned it on purpose lol. When I was a kid I brought all sorts of animals into the house, and a good amount of them got out and were never seen again: water moccasin, giant centipede, random snakes. Maybe a tarantula.

picture looks sortof like mine but it was in texas and had more red/black color scheme. it would eat a cricket like a corn cob, side to side. I liked it.

Crayfish , like all shellfish, are scavengers and opportunists. If your aquarium is basically made up of Salad, she's going to treat it like a salad bar. Slightly curbing this behavior would require you to go in and feed her regularly enough that the grazing is toned down slightly.
User avatar
#38 - tormain (04/13/2016) [-]
I feed her quite a lot, mostly Krill and peas, but she usually starts ripping out plants when they're in the way.
User avatar
#39 - mrmystery (04/13/2016) [-]
Eewww.... Okay uh, one fun fact. Peas are kind of like ... the actual legit laxitive you give to marine life. So you may want to sub out those peas for algae wafers. Which is basically like giving them a small round disc of salad.
User avatar
#42 - tormain (04/13/2016) [-]
Really? I asked around in aquarium stores and they all told me it was fine.
For now I'll stick to shellfish granules I guess.
User avatar
#44 - mrmystery (04/13/2016) [-]
There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with peas. It's just a laxitive. I mean you can keep her running regular with that no sweat. Sinker pellets used for bottom feeders are great (As they're all shrimp) , algae wafers are awesome. But the REAL treat of owning a crayfish is giving them stuff by hand.

Have you ever hand fed your lil guy some shrimp? or lettuce?
User avatar
#45 - tormain (04/13/2016) [-]
No actually, I'm going to try that, sounds rad as fuck.
And she's not really a hunter. I bought shrimp alongside my crayfish but she never attacked them resulting in their population booming. I began with about 7-8 and in a couple of months they made that well of 50. They could literally walk in front or over her and she wouldn't care.
I bought some fish after that and she kinda chased those around for a while and then stopped that as well. I had bought 4 (two of which jumped out of the tank around the time my pump broke and oxygen was low) they bred(the remaining two) to make it nine now, she won't even go for the children.

Still I don't think eating a laxative everyday is healthy or pleasant.
User avatar
#48 - mrmystery (04/13/2016) [-]
Her not being a hunter is a good thing for keeping your fish with them. Females tend to be more chill anyways. Still, heres how you hand feed.

Buy a bag of cooked shelled shrimp from the grocery store, (They go great in ramen and are useful in many recipes like shrimp alfredo so dont feel like you're wasting them) and defrost one. Tod ot his, run it under cold water until it's completely thawed.

Next, Start off with a bamboo skewer, or a chopstick you've sharpened the tip of. Or even a toothpick and gently work it into the shrimp. Just enough so that its on there, but loosen the hole so it can be pried off with no difficulty.

Make sure your cray is a bit out and about before you do this. But she'll catch the smell eventually. What you want to do is get your hand into the tank in such a way that your arm and hand with the shrimp and chopstick is NOT Casting a huge shadow over her. If she sees the shadow she will freak her shit out and spook off.

Lower down enough so that the shrimp is near her and let her catch the scent. Then she'll likely come over to investigate. Dont just hover it in front of her face. After she catches the scent, she'll come over, grab it, and run. if she has to really fight with it, you'll want to help her dislodge it. Trust me, once shes got a grip on that sucker she wont want to let go.

Once she has it, let her scuttle off to eat! Tada. Done.

Drop attack him from the landing next to the perch where the hollows fire bomb you
Bring him into the room where the door to lower undead burg is and engage him in combat there so you don't have to worry about falling while you dodge.
Roll until he attacks and then go in for back stab, rinse and repeat.
User avatar
#49 - dehnoobshow (04/12/2016) [-]
When I got close to killing him, I went up the ladder where the firebomb assholes were, and used my black firebombs to lower his health. I drop attacked on the small ledge where there was the three other guys right before him.
Main flaw is, the Black knights can not be "stunned" by drop attacks, and I do 100 damage, but I am almost always certain to get hit when I do that, and when I lowered his health and decided to fight normally, the 180 happened.
Despite me rolling away, he still hit me spot on all the time.
User avatar
#51 - nickelakon (04/12/2016) [-]
If you have a thief you should definitely have enough stamina to roll after the drop.
As soon as you hit roll back into that room under you
User avatar
#52 - dehnoobshow (04/12/2016) [-]
Also my backstabs do 120 damage on them, while it usually does 170 to regular enemies.
And despite me going in rooms, I have no way to get back out, unless I missed a ladder or something.

User avatar
#55 - dehnoobshow (04/12/2016) [-]
I'm thinking of Undeadburg.
If I go in a house, the Black knight just waits for me at the door.
And if I try to roll past him, he does his magic 180 again.
And if I don't have full health, I get one shotted.
User avatar
#59 - nickelakon (04/12/2016) [-]
You have to get him to attack before you can get behind him because he is quick.
The thing about the black knights is they're actually a lot harder than the bosses because they hit hard and aren't easily predicted.
Keep your distance and use ranged attacks like a bunch of throwing knives or, even better, fire bombs. whittle his health down. Run away get to the roof, whittle his health down more if you have anymore ranged attacks or spells
Drop attack
Roll into the room between that area and the bridge back to the bonfire, the knight will go in after you if he still lives, and if you move quick enough you should he able to get in there with minimal damage and heal before he comes in he'll walk in slowly with his shield up bring him to the center of the room and bait him in to attacking, roll to one side and keep rolling toward his back as he continues the combo, keep your shield up until you want to backstab by the time you move in he should be flicking his blade this will still hit for plenty of damage and actually can hit you while you are behind him if you aren't quick enough with the backstab after you lower your shield lower your shield and back stab, dual hand your weapon and attack him once you can, he should be dead by the time you run out of stamina.
User avatar
#60 - dehnoobshow (04/12/2016) [-]
I don't have enough STR to wield the sword without a shield, but the thing is, when he starts his combo, he moves ON me, so I have to move away from him, not around him, and if I'm not hit, he won't start his combo, if I'm hit, I'm fucked as I have a low chance of dodging at the right time, forget about using a shield, I once tried with Knight and he pierced through my shield, stunned me, then raped my face with his sword.

Should I mention, I'm on Console, so maybe the AI works differently between platforms.

His first attack has always been the thrust, which is much easier to side step than dodge back on

He starts with a hack. Like he puts his sword above his head. But he's still turning at the same time, so even when I try to get his back during that attack, I can't. Then, while still turning, he swings it down fast, still turning himself.
When he starts his thrust, it's because I'm far away, and that, even if it misses, the time it takes for him to flick his sword is not enough for me to get to his back, when I try, he immediately blocks, which stuns me, then one shots me. Again.

Draw back and get him to thrust, the thing about fighting enemies in this game is baiting certain attacks out.
Also your going to have to deal with the fact that the Black Knights have high poise, you are not going to be able to cause them to even react to your attacks until you can attack much more
For now just stay back enough to bait the stab and while he winds up the stab you need to make your move.
His health should be low and yours should be full by the time you actually engage him one on one though.

Because I have literally never seen it.
#105 - ketchupfag (04/12/2016) [-]
No you have to shoot the Dragon's tail as you're passing under the bridge to make your way to the parish. It takes a few arrows but it shouldnt take long.
User avatar
#106 - dehnoobshow (04/12/2016) [-]
Well that requires me making a new playthrough, cause I killed the merchant for his sword.
#109 - ketchupfag (04/12/2016) [-]
The drake sword isn't really worth it, since it has no scaling and will get outclassed by other weapons pretty quickly, as others have said. And if you ever actually want it for some reason, there are other merchants in the game that sell bows and arrows.
User avatar
#112 - dehnoobshow (04/12/2016) [-]
I hear many people say it's good for starting, and I always fall short on damage output when backstabbing is almost not an option.

How far are you in the game? and what level?
User avatar
#115 - dehnoobshow (04/12/2016) [-]
With my current thief, Taurus Demon, older save was at gargoyles, as for level, I think 7 now, 15 old.
#119 - ketchupfag (04/12/2016) [-]
Oh if you're only there, it wouldn't be necessarily bad to get it, once you beat the Taurus Demon (if you manage to find arrows and a bow). However, I wouldn't really recommend it since it could become too much of a crutch. At first it's really good, but the enemies get progressively tougher while the sword doesn't get any better. So it's only a good idea to get it if you know when to stop using it.
User avatar
#121 - dehnoobshow (04/12/2016) [-]
I figure it would help a lot with the gargoyles.
My old save was with a Warrior that I grinded hard to be able to wield the merchant's sword in one hand.
This playthrough I can't be bothered.
#123 - ketchupfag (04/12/2016) [-]
Yeah that wouldn't be so bad.
User avatar
#125 - dehnoobshow (04/12/2016) [-]
But yeah, have to do a new game to not kill the guy as he sells arrows and the bow.
#126 - ketchupfag (04/12/2016) [-]
I don't know if it's worth restarting just for that. If you want to beat Gargoyles easy I would recommend just summoning Solaire and Lautrec.
User avatar
#129 - dehnoobshow (04/12/2016) [-]

Lautrec is the guy in the golden armor that you rescue from a jail cell in the parish.
User avatar
#39 - jackspadess (04/12/2016) [-]
The drake sword actually has no scaling, it's 200 damage will be quickly outmatched as your strength and dexterity increase and other weapons, even with lower bae attack, will do much more with the added modifier. Its exclusively a weapon for lower level characters, and it's really only there to introduce you to the concept of cutting tails off, and all of the Dragon swords having a durability consuming special power attack.

That's not a Black Knight, that's a Heavy Knight.
They do a lot of damage but they're extremely slow so they're a pretty easy kill. There are only three of them in the game, one of which respawns.
