i havent watched Dr.Who but as far as i know that thing's race or whatever are called "The Silence" and after you see one, they erase your memory, like a case of " you go to a room for something, you forget what you came for as soon as you enter" thing
#130 - quinos (05/11/2013) [-]
Sorta correct, basically, the second you turn around and stop facing them you forget them entirely, no memory whatsoever of your encounter with the being, the joke here isn't so much that it's just that The Silence pretty much acted like it was in control of the situation. And it was . Till it got shot.

"...even when corporal punishment was still legal there were limits."
I am saying that the limitations in place before corporal punishment was banned in schools (in the US) was perfectly sufficient. The stricter the teacher and the harsher the punishment, the less need there will be to use it.

And clearly, multiple people think those are the lyrics. Some people still think "Rock the Casbah" says "Rock the Cash box". I'm cool with you thinking whatever you want, i only posted that because any version (radio, youtube, CD) does not say that lyric. Maybe i'm wrong, it's not impossible. ....that's it.

Singers often need to re-record lines in songs before they can be put on the radio so they are less offensive. Listen to Blake Shelton's "I still got a finger" and I promise that it will be different on the radio than on the CD

Yes, i saw that site too. That is someone else typing up the lyrics, not Taylor Swift singing it. I appreciate the effort, but i really don't think she says that she's going to tell people he's gay :/

Send me a link with the time where she says that and then i'll believe it. I don't care if people want to this this is what she says, but every version i've ever heard does not have that part.

I'm sure they'd limit teachers the same way the limit parents.
If I had a kid, I'd have to choose how to punish the kid but the government can take him away if I break his nose or smash a bottle on his head. Same can go for teachers, except they take their jobs.

Letting the kids run wild in the classroom by making the teacher absolutely powerless isn't the solution either. All they can do is send them outside, write them up (which can get them in trouble if the parents try and challenge it), or lower their "participation" grade if they even have that. If kids don't care about school none of that is going to stop them. A little discipline never killed anyone and even when corporal punishment was still legal there were limits. The longer it hurts to sit down the more time the message has to sink in.

My parents told the teacher, specifically, if the need arose, they had every permission from my parents to spank me. Needless to say, that never happened. But I feel like teacher should have some freedoms regarding disciplining children. Nothing obscene, but a good spanking will quickly set a kid straight.

If the kid did something that resulted in him deserving that, yes.
And there's a fine between justice and abuse.
If my kid was talking during class and didn't listen and got beaten that badly for something stupid, then yes I'd complain that that bastard abuse my kid. If my kid did the same thing, but this time started to get in the teacher's face tried to act tough, then I think he had it coming.
But truthfully, I would prefer it if they allow to teachers to treat their students the way they'd treat their children.
#37 - tontosrevenge (05/07/2013) [-]
My point is, what you think is the right level of punishment might not be the same for the teacher, so letting them decide isn't the best idea.
