schneidend (04/15/2013) [-] The difference is that corporations are expected to be powerful. A bunch of wretched neckbeards? Less so. Also, I found the Occupy faggot. I have never in my life been interested in occupying anything, nor have I called myself the 99%. I'm a scientist and corporations bother me because they keep technology from advancing. For example if governments didn't get rich off oil companies. They would put more money in ecological ways of powering vehicles and other machines/appliances/plants. Also, to put it simple: 4chan operates in broad daylight (the internet) governments and corporations only show 5% of what they do and keep the other 95% private. Obviously this is also because they don't want others copying what they do, but you have to be very naive to believe there's no corruptness in there. And no, I'm not some hippy faggot protesting for a better world. #166

schneidend (04/16/2013) [-] The real threat here, I think, is the lack of courage to take risks and foster new ideas. Like you said, there are companies out there inhibiting progress. This isn't so much because they're corrupt as they're stupid and playing it safe like pussies. There's probably more money to be had in investing in the ground floor of alternative energy research, but we don't have any brave entrepreneurs like Edison around these days to bet on that gamble. That's one example, Shell bribes governments in Africa to silence the local people just so they can keep ruining the area around oil fields without consequences. I don't want to look up more scandals of CEO's or politicians because I like to keep my faith in humanity. But trust me when I say, the world is driven by money, not by some smart guys willing to take risks. #168

schneidend (04/16/2013) [-] That's not how it used to be. There was a time when ingenuity and smarts were respected. People were heartbroken and just plain disappointed when they found out Charles van Doren was cheating on a quiz show. Nowadays, they'd be angry because they didn't get all that money. #170
-
schneidend (04/16/2013) [-] And I'm talking about how there's hope. Things change. Sometimes for worse, and sometimes for better. #172
-
schneidend (04/16/2013) [-] I changed the subject because if you're not an Occupy faggot then there's nothing to discuss in that regard. You said you're not, and I believe you. | ||
