A dakimakura is simply put, a body pillow. That doesn't necessarily mean that it is the waifu. The waifu is the character on the sheet that's covering the body pillow (dakimakura).

A Waifu is not simply a character on a Daki, a Waifu is a character that you as a person are in love with, and would marry. A Waifu isn't a character that you think you'd like to fuck, or simply a best girl from a show. I don't have a waifu because i've never fell in love with an anime character, but it's an important distinction that shouldn't be misunderstood.
