| HFO is used, for the soul reason that it is cheap... Its not the best and the least amount possible is used, and the force needed to lift a piston of that size would more than likely blow a hole in the side after a few months... if not weeks... I would show you the size of one of the fuel injectors compared to me, but my router is shite at the moment and I cant be fucked uploading it... #238

tomob (01/30/2013) [-] alright tell me a few things and ill work it out im probably wrong in the case of large engines but i would like to work out the math to see if i am. could you tell me- -the surface area of the piston/radius of piston im not fussy -the amount of fuel injected into the engine each stroke -the radius and length of the cylinder -the mass/weight of the piston again not fussy

tomob (01/29/2013) [-] ship engines very big pistons yes pistons weigh a lot yes but it will also use more fuel in each stroke meaning more pressure meaning a larger force acting on a larger piston. its less about the size of the piston more about the ratio of the weight of the piston against the force acting upon the piston due to the increase in pressure HFO is used, for the soul reason that it is cheap... It just overcomes it. But your idea is correct. #107

tomob (01/29/2013) [-] expansion is a consequence of combustion. expansion causes pressure increase which in turn causes force on the piston therefore the force is caused ultimately by combustion. and i never said it made the small force of the weight smaller i said it was insignificant compared to the force exerted on the piston from the rapidly expanding gas

| Been meaning to get around to reading Mortal Engines, atm I'm reading Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series, mainly because I loved the TV series. My favourite book of all time is difficult though. I loved James Herbert's 'The Rats' trilogy. The Hobbit has a special place with me. But all in all I just love good books. I did enjoy the Mortal Engines books and I might just have to agree with you there. the mole who wanted to know who pooped on its head - by... hell if I know o___o A toss up. Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxters collaborative work, The Long Earth, has ideas that really caught my imagination to the point where I would day dream for hours on end about the possibilities of having an unlimited supply of Earths just a step away with no humans on. My other favourite is Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian. it is a childrens book but the theme that it explores (of a horribly abused child being evacuated from WW2 London and going to live with what I would think of as the best dad in the world) made me tear up. And saying that it is a childrens book does not do it justice since it actually has a shit load of death (psycho crazy mum with a dead baby) and shit. I've read the Mortal Engines series, it was pretty good. My favorite is the Spinward Fringe series by Randolph Lalonde. | ||

| The driver(Female) of the crushed vehicle was killed, most likely on impact. I say MOST likely because I can't remember the story that went with this. I came across it on 4chan some time ago. The Driver(Male) of the silver SUV was imprisoned on Manslaughter charges. | ||

| That situation is waaay worse than mine dude.. As hard as it will be, wait until she gets hurt. Then she should tell you what happened. Don't tell her, I told you so, just listen and be there for her. If she gets hurt let her know that you still care, and you want to make her feel better. But your old friend has changed and makes her happy, be happy for her and move on as best you can. If they're really your friends then walking away from something like that is understandable and you won't lose them. | ||
