I only have the most basic knowledge of how Welsh words are pronounced, but to my eye, that looks like it should be pronounced "dun dee". Any Welsh speakers around to back me up/correct me?

And before you ask, yes I'm very fun at parties thank you very much

well you're almost there, and almost every welsh person would take what you said to be correct. But if you want to be reeeaaally technical it's pronounced more "durn dee", as if you were saying 'urn' with a d in front of it
#61 - rhodg (02/03/2016) [-]
Durn? What?

Dyn, as in man, is pronounced Dean, as in college 'dean'. There is no 'uh' sound unless you're saying Dynion, which means men.

maybe its a accent thing between the pronunciations? i meant as in the more gutteral the y sounds, like in the welsh alphabet
#65 - rhodg (02/03/2016) [-]
If you had any idea about the Welsh language, you wouldn't bring up points like what a letter sounds like in the alphabet. Welsh words and letters can change A LOT. That's why the language is very difficult to learn properly.

However,

'Dyn' is universally pronounced 'dean' even between North and South Wales and does NOT change sound on the latter part (yn). The word can of course mutate (ex. Ddyn, which is pronounced Vean) and of course changes in it's plural form like I said in my last comment.

It isn't a 'pronounciation' thing. You're wrong and I'd seriously appriciate it if you would stop trying to teach people how to speak a language that you obviously cannot even speak yourself.

Thanks Like I said, I only have the most basic of knowledge My family were Welsh about 5 generations ago, so I thought I'd give the old great-great-grandmother tongue a crack

Fair enough, and good on you for giving it a go! Honestly you could live in Wales your whole life and never learn a word of it, as it's more of a rural thing.

>trying this hard to find an excuse

Yeah funny how when it comes to commentary on "didn't do anything" African Americans we're obviously talking in Welsh, it's not racist guise I promise

implying an excuse is needed.

maybe if a shit ton of black people didn't start screaming "he dindu nuffin" when someone obviously commits a crime, the term wouldn't exist.
#20 - anon (02/02/2016) [-]
had to check
other translators, even shitty google translate says youre right tommy

so technically welsh knew blacks were gonna be dindus from the very first day they met one and invented that word for them
