left handed swordsmen have a tendency to kick ass, mostly because people are thrown off by it. only problem is when they want to join in the shield wall lol

Left handed people were seen as weaker and often not trained in battle. The old Norse for right (handed) "hoegre" has it's meaning literally translated as "proper, "higher" or "upright" as well as right handed. Enemies of the Vikings were referred to as "vinstri handar menn" or left hand men referring to their weakness and cowardly nature. There are stories from mythology dating back to the 1,000s that all state the shield is carried "vinstri hendi" or in the left hand.
Additionally, the germanic (which replaced the winistar roots to eventually form the modern Scandanavian languages) root "link" meaning left, is incorporated in the Swedish "linka" meaning lame/weak.
What we can conclude here is that there were without a doubt left handed people, but they were considered too weak to be viking warriors.

Probably not, but with no left handers to train them, Im sure lefties if they did get a shot at fighting held a sword right handed. Contrary to pop culture and legends, warriors renowned for their battle skills actually did need a lot of training and experience. Self taught isn't really a thing when it comes to sword fights.

yet , but I am willing to safely assume that the dynamics would be the same. Just mirror your opponent. And you'll be just like Link

I would agree that right handers are better at training other right handers. And lefties would be better at training lefties. But learning something in reverse isn't as hard as you might perceive it to be either. When you learn in reverse your whole life, you get pretty good at it. But that isn't what I left that comment in the first place. The point that I was trying to get across was that lefties aren't lesser swordsmen just for being left-handed. Back then they just may not have had as much opportunity to be trained as right handed people and its too bad the culture they were immersed in saw them as lesser for it.
