I think largely we draw the line at a cross section of fun / practical / cruelty.
If your being cruel with out any real practical side to it most people will take issue. There are exceptions, most in the name of culture for example bullfighting. To me animal rights are more equatable to property rights. In that you may own land, but society as a whole wont let you start dumping toxic waste because it effects others too much, Justice is hardly perfect in this regard. The dude who nailing puppies to two by fours, then setting them on fire to hear the funny noises. That guy sure the fuck is toxic. Doing what the OP states falls in line with not maintaining your house. In the city you will get fined, because the culture has standards. Keeping your lawn mowed one to do is one of them.
Policing bugs and mice is not something we have the ability to do, even if we wanted. That does not stop the US Fish and Wildlife Services, whos job on some level is just that. I think the issue is not about life, but about the society we think we should live in.( the royal we )
The place society draws the line comes down to where you display habits that make you unfit for said society. So right now fuck fish but leave that puppy alone, but only if you do it the right way.

TLDR philosophy. also, i got too much time on my hands. so unless you do don't read this

No am i not, but what im saying is that if they hadn't stood up, they wouldn't be America.
The same goes for your country, and no im not american? infact ive never stated that, i just find it highly ironic that a bunch of americans which is bombarded with that message, and is a country which is founded upon that idea, are to busy firebombing me about how it don't matter if you stood up..
User avatar #589 - toensix (03/30/2014) [-]
You're right about that but that doesn't mean that it still has anything to do with the same country nowadays. For example: Historically a lot of people migrated to the US because they thought religion in Europe wasn't strict enough. I'd argue that that hasn't anything to do with the US nowadays

But to get back to the original point. It's a lot easier to stand up as a group against another group then as an individual against a group.

Please don't take the US thing wrong. I didn't mean to offend. I thought you said my country at some point when talking about the states but after reading back I seem to have been mistaking.

Yeah it kinda has, you see the the American revolution was all about that.
The British army had better equipment and much more men, yet they dind't won? Why because America ROSE up to the challange and even though they knew that they faced impossible odds but yet somehow they stood up and manged to turn things around, it seems alot of folks here don't know that.
User avatar #512 - toensix (03/30/2014) [-]
So you're saying that the US won by sheer will? Look my country's revolution is very similiar to the american one. Only ours took 80 years! We wre up against a global superpower which was superior in every concievable way. Did we win because of sheer determination? No, we won because our enemy tried to fight to many wars at once, made some terrible mistakes and didn't have our war as it's primary objective. There was also a lot of luck involved. This same circumstances were around during the american war for independence.

I'm proud of my country for fighting that war. But I'm not making any illusions that we won because of us 'standing up'. Same goes for the US.

Also I suspect you yourself aren't an American. You're online during US night hours and if seen you make some spelling mistakes typical for a non-native English speaker.

also the infighting. Stronger Masters would be killed by numerous weaker sith seeking power. It undermined the order and gave the jedi an advantage.
User avatar #140 - klavi (03/23/2014) [-]
So basically the sith order is flawed in that if there are too many they will eradicate themselves/each other in their passion for power, and to prevent that they can only be two, rendering them weaker?

It does when you're in court, in fact it is EXCELLENT evidence in court... just not at the time of the crime happening. Granted, I can fathom that it'd take ridiculous man power and funding to keep monitor of all that surveillance, but surely enough if there's commonly crime in a certain area with CCTV, the response times of police should be as accordingly fast.
