The rule I went by when I was in high school is, If I met them in the first two years of the four I was stuck there, then I'd date them if it came to that. If I met them in the last two but they were not Soph-Senior I would only be their friend and never expect or even try for more.

Some teachers are the reason many people drop out and take the GED test or just leave school forever. They could easily make a kid feel like he can be the next Einstein, but too many of them are scared that a kid in their class can easily outsmart them so they put them down.

I think you're right on the origins of the Ooze, but still it doesn't make the turtles an alien race. Which is what has people so upset.
