A small gun on top of the big gun? You can't seriously be this retarded. He simply got shot when he was about to fire his weapon. Pretty common thing in a firefight.

Would the previous poster's statement make more sense if I said that, at first, I believed the ejection port had been rigged or that the bullet was not properly loaded into the magazine, causing the clip to feed it into the chamber incorrectly? I know little about firearms and have less experience in actually using one, but I didn't believe a sniper had shot this man initially. I thought I saw the ejection port move to remove an empty cartridge, only to have the result end up on camera.

Yes, that is the case in this video, but booby-trapped bullets and magazines are an old and effective tactic. There have been reports of bullets rigged with HE already in Syria, probably not mags because rigging a mag is more difficult and rigged mags are easier to detect (although that would not probably be an issue in a warzone where the vast majority of fighters is not trained and highly likely to brainlessly pick up stuff and use it without checking).
Long story short I wouldn't call titletaker retarded, maybe ingenuous, but he did say he doesn't know about guns after all.

Yeah, it was rigged so that when he picks up the gun, a sniper blows his head off.
I am baffled as to how you arrived at your conclusion.

I saw the top of the gun move, thought "maybe that thing on top is a small gun, rigged to fire when he pulls the trigger" I don't know. Why is there cloth? Who is he firing at? Why does the top move? What brand of shirt is that? I am ignorant of guns, and gun accessories. I deserve my red thumbs.

4th level surpass is what you want for 1v1 honor duels? CR 2 or 3 according to the table are the proper guidelines for that type. I'd say drop the AC to 16, keep the HP, and drop the attack bonus to +5, but keep the damage. He'll be hard to defeat, with his dual attacks and combat manuvers, but not impossible come 4th level for a tank or someone with luck on their side.

Looks like really you just need to up his health and maybe give him resistance to non magical damage and he will be about the perfect challenge for your purpose. HP of around 130 with resistance to piercing and slashing while in his plate, maybe the heavy armor master feat for a 3 non magical reduction.

I was mostly just thinking honor-duels, like "Let's see how far you've come" kind of deals.
He's an ally.

The DMG is a great resource for building this type of character, or any villains you may want to. I was having a hard time figuring it out but together those sets of tables I mentioned can help prep what you need. Although I feel the ballance of 6-8 encounters before a long rest make characters feel quite overpowered. Then quite underpowered once their spells are all gone.
