Well, the internet does do that a lot. Besides, to my knowledge, it isn't done as much or as horrible as it has done to other fandoms for younger audiences.

Well i hope it doesn't happen. I think its just because its a fun game and the problem with it is the same as pokemon. Made for younger audience but the older people can enjoy it too.
Sadly its people, so i think what will happen is.
1.first furries will get on and lead the train
2.second there will go >15 year old kids from tumblr and deviantart
3. the memes are fuly overytaken by normies
At any point given you can count "MLP fandom" to step in and transfer their deviations on the topic
people will be people and fuckups in nature will still be fuckups in nature
I really want splatoon to stay a game with a good ability to be a source of memes.
