Look! Another game I can't...
64 Gigs of ram, holy tits.
Yeeeah i decided to go overboard when i built that said i could have probably gotten away with 32 but w/e
You could get away with 16 gigs...
Well at least you'll never have to use Virtual Memory from your HDD space to compensate for background services running on that slow ass crap.
Awesome rig though, my dream PC that i will never achieve, although why not 1440p 144hz? If anything you could go for 32GB ram and get a 144hz 1440p and it would be amazing. What's with the weird priorities?
$$$ budget i would have but when you buy three new monitors it gets pricey
having too much ram can actually slow down games
Its clocked at 3200 and my board supports four channels so its not slowing me down at all, if anything id say my CPU would be.
its not about the base speed of the memory, you can look up benchmarks, something up to 8 gigs makes them faster, 16 doesnt make a difference, and above 24 they start losing frames, since you got a 1080 it probably doesnt matter much but i just wanted to mention it. it has to do with a property of memory, the bigger it is the slower it becomes due to having to do bigger searches, its the reason why memories on the cpu are tiny
That's why I have a quad channel mobo. Effectively I have 4 sticks of 16GB running in parallel. Base clock does matter in the hand off with the CPU so if I was running ddr3 and my base clock speed was (much) below my CPU I would get bottle necking. Plus my monitors are 60Hz so I wont really see those 300+ frames only really large dips should be visible, but I'm not seeing any. Plus as I've mentioned to others Its not just for gaming I run VMs and some rendering. Also the tiny memories are caches btw <<< EE
Unless you render shit, more than 16gb of ram is "because I can"
This isn't just a gaming rig I run VMs and also do folding. If i want I could cap out my system if i chose too. I'll hit the 20-26 range quite often and only a few times have i peaked the 32 but it isn't very frequent.
I think 32 is the new 16. The witcher 3 gets very close to using 16gb all by itself.
