Look up Alice Paul. She was the woman that brought the Feminist movement to the US. She organized pickets in front of the white house for women's suffrage, but since this was around the time of growing tensions of WWI, she was jailed on the grounds of treason. To further protest, while jailed, she organized a hunger strike. This would've made her a martyr, which the opposition to women's suffrage as well as the jail couldn't allow, so she was frequently force-fed raw eggs to keep her alive. She basically started the REAL feminist movement stateside, nothing like the feminazis that have hijacked the movement nowadays. Watch Ironjawed Angels if you're interested in a pretty good movie about old-school feminism.

Let's be honest. The fanbase here is too small to make that big of a difference. And even at the size we are probably less than a third of the users would be motivated enough or have the skills to assist in a movement like that in any way. It could be a start, but starting here is not the best idea

I'm super political and all, but not even like 25% of FJ can agree and get behind a single subject most of the time, let alone methods. Like I'm against all the radical feminism shit too, but I'm also against 90% of GamerGate because their main tactic is "let's prove how bad they are by being exactly as bad right back at them" and that's incredibly annoying. You couldn't get more than 25% of active users to really jump on the GamerGate bandwagon and start helping in any way. And personally, if I were gonna get behind one issue and really fight for it, it would be second amendment gun rights - I think a solid 25% of FunnyJunk would like to see gun laws go the opposite direction from me though, and at least another 50% don't give a rats ass. And every really important subject breaks down this way.
It would be sweet for FJ to make a difference, I just don't know how we can "rally the troops" for anything important. I guess we can probably all agree on internet censorship laws.

I think the main way to kick off a movement would be through a forum, and maybe a main website to just post different news.
In order to conform to people's different opinions, we'll establish polls and questions where people can comment their own thoughts, and also vote on what they believe is right. This would allow for a rough estimate for the general opinion on Funnyjunk.
I'd assume polls about Internet Censorship and North Korea would be given, since both tend to infringe upon general human rights. Although a lot of people may also just not fucking care, or begin to shitpost, I think that the majority of people would be compelled to input at least their vote.
Humans have a natural love to have their opinion heard, and if their fellow community is debating a topic I'm sure a good amount of people will end up sharing what they think. It just needs to get out there for everyone to see.
Plus, people who just post opposing opinions would encourage others to state their own, and there's always going to be proactive members of the community who seek to make some sort of change in the world.
