its from Nekomonogatari a prequel to bakemonogatari, if you want to watch nekomonogatari watch the Bakemonogatari first or you wont have a clue what is happening.

the prequel was released after bakemonogatari and it doesn't introduce the characters or the concepts it seems to be made with the expectation that you already know the people in it.

eh it turned out pretty good i enjoyed it. I think i may have said it in a way that is easily misunderstood, the prequel has the same charecters of bakemonogatari but explores a story that was mentioned in the main series but not explained.

It has both gory parts and parts that almost seem to come out of a romantic comedy but for this particular anime i think you should watch the first episode and use that to determine if you are going to watch it or not.
