I'm constantly concerned that I just approached it wrong, but I feel like Oblivion had more space to screw around while still having better quests. Magic, for instance, had all sorts of crazy shit you could do and that meant enchanting armor could get really crazy. Skyrim restricted magic to a lot of overly simple spells. The leveling up allowed for more customization in terms of basic attributes, but also for more flexibility since you didn't need to spend unrefundable perk points in skill trees to be able to use them in any capacity whatsoever. I also liked the lighter tone in Oblivion, as it meant joining the Dark Brotherhood had a lot more dark humor and a lot less, "Wow, I just joined a death cult. I'm, uh, going to go feel uncomfortable in the corner."

As stupid as it sounds, I never got used to Skyrim's weird-as-shit dual-wielding system either. I was trying to play a pure magic Dark Elf, and I had to switch spells so frequently that it kind of drove me insane. I mean, you'd have to do that with any magic character in any game ever, but it felt faster and easier to do so in Oblivion.

...and, ultimately, I'm reinstalling it, because I bought the damn expansion packs and I'M GONNA PLAY THEM DAMMIT.
