I never once said that they aren't allowed to voice their opinions, I just said that they are wrong when they do voice those opinions and it's pretty sad that they have such a large influence. It would be nice if people could realize how ridiculous some of this stuff is and reject it. But yes they can say it if they want, I'm more frustrated with the people who hear it and agree and fail to think for themselves.

What it gets down to is that I don't mind if people believe in god, that's their choice and I don't agree with it but there's no way to prove it one way or the other so I'm not going to say they are wrong. However they are wrong when they say that their holy book is the divine and absolute truth of their deity and use it to justify their claims and actions. Even if that group is a minority they still exist and they have a voice (just look into politics here in the US, they have a rather large voice). Every holy book contains things that are demonstrably wrong; so how could it be the divine truth of god if it's wrong? But there are no denominations of any religion that uses a holy book that does not accept it as truth (whether they accept it as literal truth or allegorical truth is irrelevant). So how can you accept something as truth that is obviously not? This is at the core of most or all religions (I'm no expert on world religions) and it gives me pretty damn good grounds to ridicule people on. Besides, I have the right to free speech.
