Isn't it completely possible that a teacher makes a test that's actually really difficult, but everyone gets high scores, because the teacher is so awesome that everyone grasps the material?

Let me clarify a few things: I don't think the teacher should have made the test not count. You and your classmates earned high grades on that test and should be rewarded for doing so. However I think that the second test, the more difficult one, should be the official grade.

Since I'm a teacherfag I would personally make that first test count as extra credit redeemable throughout the class or something. You guys shouldn't lose a high grade due to teacher error. But you also need to be accurately assessed so that we know if we can move on to more difficult lessons and not leave you behind. If everyone on an easy test scores high but an accurate test would have everyone failing, and then the teacher moved on to a more difficult unit, everyone would be so far behind because they weren't accurately assessed.
