well depends who colonizes the other planet

if its usa or its allies, then pretty much guaranteed some bastard corporation will buy exclusive rights to colonize and mine the shit out of other worlds
we can only hope for a starcraft situation where those sent to live on other worlds rebel and fight back against earth

well not intentionally, but some asshole will use a weapon to kill off a country then find out too late it affects the rest of the world

kinda like the movie 'on the beach' where usa nuked some other country then found out too late that inter-continental winds were blowing radiation over the rest of the world

That might be true. The good thing though is technology is advancing at quite a great rate over the past 300 years. If we are lucky, maybe in the next few hundred we might develop the technology to get to another planet. Can't possibly fuck up twice, right?
