Let's all say this together kids:

Sex is not something to be ashamed of, it's a fun activity that you can enjoy.
A pregnancy and child is not a suitable punishment for having the gall to enjoy yourself with some sex.
Birth controls fail.
Even if the pregnancy is a mistake, a child is not a suitable punishment for having the gall to enjoy yourself with some sex.

I never could tell whether it's leftover puritanical thinking that sex is somehow sinful, or just jealousy at other people actually having sex that brings this 'you dun goofed' argument up.

Yes.
Because getting a abortion is responsibility, you dumb fucking nigger.
Just because you can bring a child into this world doesn't mean you should.
1. Overpopulation is a huge problem.
2. If we banned abortions, more children will be born in shit conditions.
3. If we banned abortions, more women will just go to a coat hanger for one. We might as well allow a clean and painless version.
4. The baby is just cells. No conscience, no personality, nothing that makes it sentient; let alone sapient. It has no life, no more than fucking sperm.
5. Delivering a baby is a dangerous fucking process. Women can, and still do, die from it.
6. You really think forcing a lower/working class woman to have her child because of a mistake is a smart idea.
Because it fucking isn't.

1) I think overpopulation should be solved by other means(i.e. colonizing other planets, etc.). It seems that if humanity has reached a point where our planet is apparently too small for our population, it is time to expand outward. Instead of funding political agendas, whether pro-life or pro-choice, space colonization should be funded instead.
2) That's not a viable argument for abortion
3) That's the same argument used for drugs. Just because people will do it, doesn't mean it should be legalized. Should we legalize murder? I mean, it happens anyways
4) We are also just cells. Also, the baby is formed when the sperm and egg combine. While the sperm is not consider life in this interpretation, the moment the egg and sperm combine the process has begun
5) That still isn't a viable argument.
6) People make many mistakes. Do we just allow them to undo the issue?
#14 - anon (01/06/2016) [-]
1) We don't live in a sci-fi movie.
2) People lacking consequential thought making children they can't get rid of nor take care of is not a valid argument? Lemme guess, you demand people to be 100% rational Which won't happen .
3) If a woman is pregnant, but can't get rid of, nor take care of a child, she will solve the situation behind "the state's" back, i.e. coathanger. You want people to suffer when they make bad desicions. That's reasonable and all, since it's their own mess, but refer to point 2.
4) Fair point. The line between what's "alive" and what's not "alive" is unspecified since everything that is alive consists of something that isn't.
5) Allow me to present the same amount of proof of validity as you did: "It is too a valid argument": If you didn't get the hint, try supporting your refutation with... like... actually something.
6) Once again, refer to point 2. Also, if we as humans didn't care for other members of our societies, we wouldn't have societies.

Just putting it out there, NASA claims they'll have Mars colonized by the mid 2030's. I'm not a fan of abortion, but I recognize it as a necessary evil in some cases. Now if it were scientifically possible to somehow remove the fetus and allow it to gestate outside of a human body while having nutrients and oxygen provided, I'd be all for it. That way we'd only need to perform abortions for babies that are going to be born with some severe deformity.
#18 - anon (01/06/2016) [-]
Consider the fact that even in 2030 it will cost more to send one person to Mars than the majority of people will earn in their lifetimes. I can't see it ever being economically viable to extract unwanted babies into laboratory farms. The old natural way of baby-making may be messy but it's damn easy comparatively.

Abortions absolutely should be used when genetic defects are identified. Not in some 'create a super race' way but simply because it's morally a crappy thing to force suffering for some misguided notion of the sanctity of life. But aside from that, they should be freely available and shouldn't be seen as 'shameful.' It is not a shame to enjoy sex. A consequence of it can however be a pregnancy but we have very easy ways of dealing with these mishaps. As ever, it's archaic beliefs which are the only barrier to progress.

$250000.
That is how much a child costs. On average.
