We are hurting the planet, much of the damage will be irreparable. And so many people don't understand the scale at which we are. In fact so many people underestimate how much damage we are really doing. Yes, technologies for fuels are being developed that make them safe, clean and recyclable. But very few are actually utilizing them. Money drives everything, and these ideas though more beneficial to us, don't make money. (In fact some companies end up buying out the rights to technologies that would be beneficial for humans. Cancer treatment, alternative energy, etc. and then they get rid of them for the sake of keeping their profits.) For me it's not a matter of pessimism or optimism, but one of pessimistic realism. It's entirely possible for us to attain the balance we so desperately need. But no one wants to do that. And furthermore so many don't even think it is necessary. (As well as those who don't realize how sorely we need it.) #150
