I actually thought I might really like that one despite not really liking the art style on the character appearance but my brothers spoiled the ending for me. I know the last 2 or 3 episodes worth of action. I might still check it out though because I love animes that have a mastermind in them.

It's cool. I have a lot to say, others say less. I dive a lot into the things I read and I just appreciate the chance to vocalise my thoughts on the matter, no matter how long your reply is it still helps me make good use of the analysis.
Either way I think this is just your interpretation of the work. Everyone's right is to read the same story but experience it in their own manner so it's cool having different feelings on the matter. I see Riboku as an undefeated tactical savant whose every move has put Qin into a corner and has only been tripped up by Shin's starkly contrasting skill-set coming from nowhere (hence why he seems to have such admiration for him despite having only ever really met him the one time. Whilst they're only meeting face-to-face in the forest after the Renpa arc Riboku knows a lot about Shin and seems to hold a great measure of respect for him.)
And I never really saw Shin's actions as arrogant outside of the first Arc where he actually does act pretty arrogant from time to time. After the Renpa arc though I really can't blame him, he's commanding a very different kind of force on a battlefield he's not used to with no real experience or expertise in tactics. I'd consider it arrogant if he knew any better and were just being stubborn however that's not the case.
Either way I think it all falls down to interpretation at this level. I admire Riboku's ability to be wrong sometimes yet to be the most dangerous enemy in the series in spite of his fallibility and his inability to actually fight hand-to-hand. I don't ever see him as lame, personally. And I see Shin very empathetically so it's hard to find him arrogant for me. He is just a simple guy who's doing what he does best but what he does best isn't working and he doesn't know why.
We see them differently and that's fine.
