What instrument do you play?
#5 to #4 - thelowbrass (11/26/2013) [-]
Baritone Horn/Euphonium. Do you play?

Oh yeah, you better believe it. I play bari sax in my school's jazz band and I play sousa/tuba for marching band. I'm probably dropping sax soon though, I really just dislike playing it now. I'd like to learn trombone for jazz

That's pretty sweet, dude. I've got good friends who play bari. Honestly, I'm kinda tired of euphonium, but my director wouldn't let me switch to electric bass, so I'm kinda stuck

You should switch to tuba. In the words of a famous scientist, "If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing." I've never really understood why people would pick euphonium. I understand what it's purpose is I think, to round be the middle man between tuba and trombone, but in the eyes of a 6th grader That's the year we pick our instruments I'm pretty sure none of them have even heard of it. I didn't know what baritone was, along with oboe and bassoon.

I've tried tuba, but with only one other one in the band, I wouldn't be able to get my chops up. My reading skills are **** , i just play by ear and knowing scales, so I get to hear the people around me and i generally copy them. (on brass, that is). The other tuba player isn't so good, she's a freshman, so I'd end up copying mistakes.

Oh man, a lady tuba. If only we had those over here. I'm terrible at reading music too, but I can read enough to get by. I can't rely on the other tubas because they are all pretty horrible/don't care about band. I'm excited for next year when most of them will have their fine arts credit and drop. We also have symphonic band (which is pretty much AP band, no strings) which I'm going to try doing. I've only been playing for about 4 months though so I may be setting my sights too high

I'd go for it, bro. I was in Symphonic band at the beginning of this year, but dropped because I was too ****** at reading
