| Must be a freshman. Even is energy was completely unlimited, which it's not, the facilities to harness it would still cost money, the people who make the generators would still need salaries, and the generators themselves would have to be maintained. which costs money. There is no such thing as free energy. the closest thing to 'free' energy that private citizens can use is solar panels, and that's not free either. A typical solar panel system costs between six and ten thousand dollars, and can only provide your electricity needs during daylight. Now the average household pays about 200 a month for energy. so installing a solar panel system makes very little sense for most people since a solar panel system would take between 30 and 50 MONTHS to pay for itself. Energy is not free. it will never be free. If it costs even one cent to make, someone has to pay for it. Good luck with your engineering studies. You'll learn alot about the real world. #297

N. Korean citizen (10/05/2012) [-] not a freshman but good luck to you too, and about the world i have learned enough to know where we are heading. Now i would rather pay 1 cent, wouldn't you rather wish to pay 1 cent instead of 10?, even today generators need to be maintained not only from a single place but all over the world. and the facilities we have right now all over the world could probably be enough for the wardenclyffe since most of them are inefficient. Yeah energy is not free and it will never be, but we should get the most out of it to make efficient and reliable. -thejosa-

jakeattack (10/03/2012) [-] maybe its for the best something like that wasn't created. if it was funded by JP morgan then when tesla died then Morgan's wealthy family probably would have had control over it. then then they could have found a way for it to be regulated. but this time they would basically be able to have a monopoly on the entire power supply of the world and we would be their slaves #75

jakeattack (10/03/2012) [-] the point is you need to be careful with that kind of power. not that we should stop looking for a solution to the energy crisis we really need one What jeffthespider said was spot on, but also youtube free energy or one of the zeitgiest movies or even the alex jones channel and there is proof of small portable free energy machines that the FBI enters labs without warrants destroys all the evidence and machinery and then pays off or intimidates the scientists to keep their mouths shut. If that doesn't work than theres always a convenient car accident or something. He had plans on using the rotation of the top soil in relation to layers deep beneath earth's crust as a super conductor which would have been used by the towers to transport essentially free energy to anyone with a copper wire and rod. Also the raids are real, why would the FBI do it numerous times and take research of people doing experiments on machines that don't exist. The content of those labs are public and yet they have been raided. Also the machines in the zeitgeist documentary use multiple dimensions as a way to transport energy from one dimension to another, if it's not true blame the movie not me, just seems more suspicious than it does crazy The four people below me are silly and paranoid. speaking as an engineering student, free energy is not possible by any known means. that tower is not for and cannot generate electricity. it is for the wireless transmission of electricity. Which is, in fact completely possible... buuuuuuuuuuut High voltage power lines and transformer stations do the job much more efficiently. So yeah, Tesla was a genius, but if you think that 'free energy' would be blocked by companies? you're an idiot. If energy was 'free' companies would still sell it for a price, and make 100% profit. as it is most energy companies make small margins since they have to pay for fuel and transportation of said fuel etc. source: engineering student and common sense. #289

thejosa (10/04/2012) [-] when i said free energy i meant it in the way that no paying, not free energy as in unlimited amount of energy. If you consider yourself and engineer then do research on some of the subjects it is your responsibility as an engineer student to show why we are engineers. As i have gone through most of Mr. Tesla's experiments as a way to inspire myself into creating a brighter future for generations to come. sadly the wardenclyffe is no more since it was destroyed. ENGINEER STUDENT<-------- ty Must be a freshman. That would be really dangerous for public health as that high amounts of magnetic radiation would cause cancer among other things. Right now if you have a high-voltage airline going over your house you should be fine unless you have a family history of certain types of cancer. Just think what it would do if the magnetism was transmitted in high quantities instead of just being transmitted from a current going trough a wire. Also as a fellow engineering student I confirm everything you said but it should be common sense and not linked to engineering. #258

N. Korean citizen (10/04/2012) [-] Magnetism does not cause cancer. No amounts of magnetism have ever, or ever will cause cancer. I am sick of hearing this. There have been countless studies on this, the evidence is beyond conclusive. Magnetism, even in huge amounts and for prolonged exposure, has no harmful effects. #145

hillbillypowpow (10/03/2012) [-] i don't think he meant free energy in the normal sense of not needing fuel, but literally. meaning people wouldn't have to pay for it #24

salts (10/03/2012) [-] yesh but you made it sound like it was free im aware that it is in possible to get free energy an im aware of the transfer of electricity through magnet coil thingys, sorry i have no idea what the correct terminology is... you can buy something similar to tesla's machine they charge phones and they are called power mats, and theoretically speaking if and i mean if there was such thing as free energy which there is not (although pulling it from the air waves via antennas is quite amazing if only we could get more then you know .. practically nothing) then while companies would charge for the use of there equipment i could see the customers circumventing the system and buying their own equipment if it suited them , i mean if your electricity needs are very high then investing in said equipment might be worth but the average person would probably never use that much electricity (this is assuming the equipment to generate this electricity is rather expensive) so the average person would probably go to the company with the cheapest free energy and this could start a price war and in the end the electricity would be dirt cheap...now i am no engineering student i am a biology student who knows a little bit about everything...however if my knowledge is here is completely inaccurate please feel free to correct me just you know be nice about it Greed halts all progress friend. if you had somehow discovered a way to give out free energy but lacked the funding to do it there would be oil companies and such at your door trying to buy our your product and telling you to keep your mouth shut. They don't want their businesses to go under because someone found a better way to get around. actually greedy corporations would happily block people from building such machines simply because they wouldn't be able to profit from it and their energy sources would start to become unused, effectively collapsing the economy until equilibrium was found. i have been trying to design similar machines but so far most only recycle kinetic energy and reuse it by converting it into mechanical energy from a pendulum for rotating a free spooling set of thin solid aluminum wheels with magnets on them with a set of coils in the middle to collect the energy. Also created fluorescent light bulbs. All because Edison was a complete dick to Tesla.
