That said, you're right. NES isn't the best example, but his point still stands quite well.

you made me think of saving private ryan in a whole new light

that scene where the americans found that french family,,,the german sniper was using THEM to lure in american troops

spr sniper
#32 - hawkbamf (01/02/2014) [-]
Also in full metal jacket with a Vietnamese woman as the sniper.
User avatar #33 - konradkurze (01/02/2014) [-]
yeah
always wondered about that crazy bitch

yeah she shot an america and made another come out to get him then shot him too....but then the other americans refused to come she just kept shooting the first 2

,,,,,,including a dick shot........
#34 - hawkbamf (01/02/2014) [-]
And there was even a line in there about her specifically trying to lure them out but that dumb fuck didn't listen.
User avatar #36 - konradkurze (01/02/2014) [-]
and the kicker ill bet most americans hated

the fact she was using a standard russian AK47 without scope as a sniper weapon

so many americans like to bleat the AK is 'shit' and they even had R Lee Ermey do a firearm show comparing an AK47 with an m1 carbine
they went full propaganda getting a chinese copy that was inaccurate as shit and could only fire short bursts and claimed thats what the russian gun was like
#37 - hawkbamf (01/02/2014) [-]
They probably think it is shit because in all the war movies they are always just balls to the wall with the AK going full spray and pray mode and never hit a damn thing.
User avatar #39 - konradkurze (01/02/2014) [-]
yeah, they see stuff like platoon where that american is running from 30 vietcong and only like 1-2 bullets hit him.....

of they see stuff about arabs or africans waving the gun around like a parade baton of course they wont hit shit

they forget back in the war some american troops ditched their shitty jamming carbines and took ak's because they were more reliable and with better stopping power
#40 - hawkbamf (01/02/2014) [-]
Yeah the m16's were shit in Vietnam. They wouldn't eject the empty shells and they either had to spend the time in the middle of a damn fire fight to find something to shove down the end of the barrel to push it out or find something else to shoot with which is way smarter than sitting there like a damn bullseye.

Then the military was just like aww it's fine don't worry the m16 is the best gun we have.
User avatar #42 - konradkurze (01/02/2014) [-]
yeah i read up they built the M16 a bit different and gave the wrong ammo type for it, hence the jamming

kinda funny things
the AK was shorter, lighter, and you could put it through lal kinds of shit and it would still fire
hell on a gun specialists show i saw, they pretty much summed it up as "you could tie a bunch of shoe laces together, coat them in gun oil, drag that though the barrel, thats pretty much all you needed to do to maintain it"

all the total war games based out of europe. i'd kill for a contiguous game starting in the age of rome and ending in like 1800 or whenever empire ended
User avatar #360 - thegrimreaver (01/01/2014) [-]
So, essentially what you want is Civilization: Total War? An interesting idea, but I really think it'd not be all that feasible. You'd have to have a massive tech-tree like in Civilization, but limit it's speed, so you're not fielding muskets and artillery by 1200 AD or so. Also, I'm not sure how you'd adjust the game to major events like the fall of the Roman Empire, which is a pretty big deal in the scheme of history. That's why the games show all the various eras when the empires were coming to the height of their glory. People want to conquer the world and create the empire, not watch it disintegrate in front of them.
