I know and understood the whole reasoning behind it and it made perfect sense... but still you can't just repair the damage you've done lol even though it was a happy ending my heart was beyond repair

Ive watched both and can whole-heartedly say that Clannad is much sadder. Ano Hana's story and development is over the course of 11 episodes, while Clannad has 47 episodes over 2 seasons (2nd season being the double decker slapper sadfest). Ano Hana is still great, however in degree of sadness Clannad takes the cake. If you watch Ano Hana after Clannad and enjoy it I would recommend watching Angel Beats.
User avatar #88 - theglaw (08/14/2014) [-]
Yea, Angel Beats was made by the same studio that did Clannad. So its now on my watch list.

Well, the English dub is good for the most part. The only off-putting thing I can seriously think of with it is that it may skip some syllables in the characters' names like "Fujibashi" instead of "Fujibayashi".

What I typically don't like in Japanese voice dubbing is that they can make young girls sound too highly pitched in the name of being cute. It's overdone in the sense that the voice no longer fits that character's body. Nagisa gets it kinda bad here as does her mother Sanae. They can easily sound 5-10 years younger than they really are. Although Fuko's case isn't terrible, it's another thing the English dub improved upon by making her sound like a teenager in a kid's mind and body rather than a little kid pretending to be 17 (if you catch my drift).

As for the guys, they can sound too deep in Japanese, and Tomoya is practically unbearable for me. He sounds 30 even though he's 18. The English dub is much better since he sounds about 22 and even younger when he's in a good mood. Yohei Sunohara has it the worst though; I cannot stand a comic relief sounding halfway between a viking and a punk. The English dub greatly improved on this by actually making him sound genuinely foolish yet young, hyper, and pathetic.

The English dub is worth trying and comparing for yourself. Don't just accept others' opinions, especially when they tell you to automatically choose sub over dub.

It's a slow romance drama. It's the perfect anime to stop reading subs since you're not going to miss an action scene or anything.

Soon my friend, its just an opening of the remake of the fate/stay night visual novel but they just announced its anime adaptation a few days ago no release date though. If you are interested in the prequel though watch Fate/Zero or wait until October for the release of the Unlimited Blade Works route
