Ah, just finished second programming class. Data structures and algorithms is as far as I've got. Tried dabbling in some game programming for fun, didn't get anywhere too fast. What engine(s) do you use, and what language under those?

One thing. No offense or anything but Only two classes in and you're on Data Structures and Algorithms? That just sounds wrong to me.

I have an associates in game programming and I had to take 4 programming classes before I got to data structures and algorithms and then that was its own class.

It just sounds like they threw you in prematurely unless each class was very in depth.

Pretty in depth, 15 weeks. semester system. Took a C++ class, then data structures. Quicksort, PQ's, binary tree's, radix and bucket sort. few other things I can't recall off the top of my head. Taking Elementary Computer Organization this semester.

I make my own engines, That way I know my way in and out of what Im doing,
As for languages, I prefer C++ but I know C#, C++, Flash and XNA.

I won't be going much further with programming as I'm not amazing at it. I would much more prefer the design aspect of Game Design. (my current Major is Video Game programming.

you could do else or if you wanted to insure correct function you could do another if statement for a false bool. Its really up to preference. i left it out. Was just showing him the basic idea.

Try to appease the mighty compiler? most of the time I do really stupid stuff like closing the brackets early, or forgetting a semicolon. I'll spend like a half hour looking over it, pulling my hair out. Add a semicolon and those 30 lines of compiler errors barking at you are gone.

No those have been drilled into my head I can pick those out easily now.
I'm talking about the real stupid stuff like unhandled exceptions that dont actually throw an error until you friggin run the damn thing.
Even when the error is thrown its hard to tell what the fuck you did wrong.
