All nightmare long was the closest to their older Albums like Ride the Lightning and Kill Em All as they've been in a long, LONG time.

I think people give load and reload too much shit. Sure it's not the same as the rest of their stuff and it's different, but that doesn't mean it's objectively bad. You may not like it and that's fine, but I personally think that both albums are actually pretty good.

All of the others are better for sure, but they aren't nearly as bad as everyone makes them out to be.

St anger is the same way, but I personally can't stand any of that album.

We get it. You don't like those albums. Myself,, I own ALL the albums and each, minus St. Anger is good in their own way, I can't make St. Anger out as good until I can make it through the entire album.

But I mean, when a band builds a name based on a certain sound, I'm sure people expect them to keep delivering that sound. When you hear a different sound from a familiar band, I think there's a sort of disconnect that keeps some from fully connecting to it like the others.

Devils Dance and The memory remains are both great as well. I will agree that there are much more iconic albums and if you want to get technical about it yes they are two of the worst Metallica albums, but that doesn't make them bad. Just not as good as the others.

Couldn't agree more. Load/reload are almost a different genre from their earlier stuff, but some of my favorite songs come from them. Ronnie and King Nothing are especially good.

St anger is the most underrated album they have IMO
