RAAAAAGE!!!!

You are right, we humans CAN do whatever we want. However, that hasn't always been the case. Before human civilization reached a point where our basic needs were all met by the push of a button, survival was a bit less guaranteed. You picked societal roles based no so much on what you WANTED to do, but more on who was best suited to do the job.
For example: In a hunter/gather society, males made better hunters, while the females made better gatherers.
Our brains still show this prepatterning. In things like how the different sexes navigate, multitask, etc. Men tend to navigate more by making mental maps. Women more on landmarks. Mental maps are better for roaming far and wide in search of game. Remembering landmarks is better for relocating that particularly abundant berry patch.
Men tend to have better focus and coordination than females, but females tend to be able to multitask better. One is better for bringing down an animal, one is better for harvesting edibles while keeping track of children and each other.

The list goes on.

So, no matter how much you try to make it a modern social issue, our differences are older than humanity itself.
Men will always tend to be better and some societal roles.
Women will always tend to be better at others.
Doesn't mean a man can't be a damn fine nurse.
Doesn't mean a woman can't be a damn fine mechanic.
Just means both are showing an aptitude not generally found in their sex.

While technically correct, you are using statistical generalizations to make a moot point, i.e even though on average men and women are better at different things, on an individual basis blahdie blahdie blah you've probably heard this and even mentioned this several times.

More to the point, i resent your use of the term always, because we are not only constant changing as individuals, also constantly evolving as a a species. Meaning these precoded patterns are not inexorable precursors to our modern behavior, but rather a more recent peace of history in what is to be, assuming that we don't wipe ourself out, a long and varied timeline of behavioral norms. We define ourselves as an individual over a lifetime as our species will continue to define itself over millennia based on individual trends.

I cry every time I finish the third book. And I'm 21. It's as if a world was over. SPOILER from the third book There is no way they will ever meet again, and they make you know that for sure, it's just painful. I'm in love with the books as much as I am heartbroken with the ending. I guess not everything is fun and games.

It's a very harsh book, sort to speak. Mostly the ending. That ending, man...

I don't mean to put you both down but..

My whole family are pickles.. Since I was a kid I grew up in a pickle, right off cucumber lane along side the Chip and Dill families.

You have no idea how much pickles have affected my life.

Jesus. I don't have it that bad. I don't know if you consider it bad but I don't think I'd be able to handle that. That's too many pickles even for me.

I now acknowledge your reining title of Pickle Overlord.

I bow to you oh pickle master.
#467 - thecommittee (04/16/2014) [-]
Honestly, I think its amazing. its great to be able to take pride on ones parents for something, and they do pickles really really well. Not just that, but after seventeen years we a re finally getting recognition from the culinary world. We get stagiaires ( basically restaurant interns) coming in to work for free just to get the experience. Some of them stay and get hired, and they are truly talented people. This one guy who has been working for us awhile came down to our house last weekend and just made really good fried chicken with us for an afternoon. On a different note, I don't think I have ever met anyone else who has anything approaching a similar experience with he whole pickle thing, so props to you and all that. I acknowledge your own mastery over the realm of fermented foodstuffs.

Same here. I just usually identify by high-functioning as the 2 are highly similar and not many people seem to know that Aspergers is a form of Autism. Most just know its a disorder that sounds like ass burgers.
User avatar #333 - reloyjerkins (07/27/2014) [-]
I'm really sorry for asking but how does this worck?
Like how is it having autism or a form of it
and how does it worck out on the Internet so well?
User avatar #334 - Crimsonfox (07/28/2014) [-]
Well you're reading my text and not talking to me in person. In person you'd really be able to tell. I fidget, sometimes twitch, avoid eyecontact while speaking and tend to use really big words in situations that really don't call for eloquent speaking, which makes me look like a total smartass but its just the way I function with my vocabulary. If that's not what you mean you'll need to be more specific.

Another thing to consider is that there is multiple types of autism, collectively known as the autism spectrum, and it effects everyone differently and has a huge range of severity depending on the individual with it.
