I agree with most of what you say, but you really sound like a person who've been hurt enough times to become cold... I'm perfectly happy by myself to, but that doesn't mean i couldn't be happier if i was in a relationship.
User avatar #37 - thecharliesheen (05/11/2013) [-]
Nope, I've been in a happy relationship for 6 years now with the same person. Now, granted him and I have had our fallouts from time to time, so does every couple. Like I said, another person can GREATLY enhance your happiness, and you should enjoy it and cherish it.. However, there is always a chance that something will happen. I'm not saying "Fuck relationships, you're better on your own!", but I am saying that you should always be able to create your own happiness if no one else can.

You basically reiterated my point. You should be happy in a relationship,, but you can be happy on your own too.

User avatar #11 - thecharliesheen (05/11/2013) [-]
Yes, because that person could easily leave. You can be happier with someone in your life, but if you become unhappy and depressed without them (minus the normal grieving period), you probably won't be happy. It's always better to be self-reliant.

Look, you can't NEED someone. Other people have separate lives, and usually theirs is more important. If yours conflicts with theirs, you can bet your ass that you're out. If you need someone to make yourself happy, you will never be happy.

User avatar #7 - thecharliesheen (05/11/2013) [-]
If it takes someone else for you to fix yourself, than you have deeper rooted issues. You should never need someone else to better yourself. Plus, other people aren't always permanent. What happens when they leave and you're left with yourself again? Do you turn into a wreck again?
Point being, fix yourself for yourself. Not for anyone else.

They are not. He got in a fight with one of his friends when he was younger over a girl they both liked, and the guy had a ring on his finger.
Here's a better picture to see it.

You could be right. I was just making a joke. Although it would be kind of cool to have one over dilated pupil in a weird way (minus the obvious health demerits).
User avatar #39 - verdammt (05/11/2013) [-]
He actually has trouble seeing out of that eye that's permanently dilated...
And it probably would be pretty cool, you could freak out a few people with that eye.
User avatar #40 - thecharliesheen (05/11/2013) [-]
I'd imagine it's like the exam your eye doctor does every 2 or 3 years. I had it done a few days ago, and I got a massive headache whenever I tried to see anything up close for like 4 hours. I walked around either squinting or holding my eyes open like some fucked up psycho.
Definitely worth it. I'd do it.
User avatar #41 - verdammt (05/11/2013) [-]
I haven't had that procedure done to me for a very long time, but one of my relatives scared the hell out of me a few weeks back when I met her after the eye doctor did an exam... Freaky as hell considering the place was kind of bright.
User avatar #42 - thecharliesheen (05/11/2013) [-]
I looked like I had done a boatload of psychadelics. It really looked like there was just no color to my eye. I walked there, so walking home in the sunlight was a nightmare. Minus all that, it was pretty cool looking in the mirror. I sat forever and stared to see if I could watch it go down, but I got bored and left eventually.

His eyes are not two different colors. One pupil is permanently dilated from an injury as a child.
User avatar #34 - weirdvintagegirl (05/11/2013) [-]
Why are you thumbing this guy down? It's true! And Bowie's eye was damaged so much he only sees brown hues out of it, which probably explains why it's a different color.

I'm from Utah and I can honestly say that I've never seen this. What part of Utah has this?
User avatar #440 - thecharliesheen (05/10/2013) [-]
I lived in the undeveloped part of West Jordan a couple years ago, where there's still fields and open areas instead of buildings. They lived in this giant barn type thing, that looked like an oversized greenhouse.
User avatar #309 - harlequinlove (05/10/2013) [-]

That sounds more like culture than polygamy. All polygamy states is that one person is married to two. No more, no less. What you're describing has nothing to do with polygamy, just a shitty fuckin culture.
User avatar #443 - thecharliesheen (05/10/2013) [-]
You could definitely be right. However, in my personal experience, I have NEVER met a polygamist who hasn't done it for religious reasons or the reasons I listed. I've never met an honest-to-god normal family that just had 2 wives. It's always the overly dominant husband with 5 wives that look like they're straight outta Plymouth with kids that look like they haven't eaten in 3 years.
I guess you definitely could be right, I was just describing my experience.
User avatar #176 - infamoustrapper (05/10/2013) [-]
That has nothing to do with polygamy though...that's just a bad family. If polygamy was legal, people wouldn't be FORCED into it. It's just marriage with more than 1 person...why should it be associated with violence?
User avatar #444 - thecharliesheen (05/10/2013) [-]
Like I said, that's what we have here. If you read the reply above this one, I stated that this is just my personal experience. I'm not saying all polygamy is bad, I was just trying to state why there's such a negative stigma attached to it here.
I never said "Polygamy is bad", I just said "well, this is why people don't like it". When people here picture polygamy, that's what they picture.

Did you ever report the abuse to the police?
User avatar #445 - thecharliesheen (05/10/2013) [-]
Of course we did, especially when we saw it. Unfortunately, the police here are quite incompetent and took several days to respond, and by then, the husband had coerced the wives into denying everything, and the kids stayed quiet out of fear. We were never allowed onto their compound, but we did try to stop it.
