by in large they do o.O I mean abortion IS allowed. Gay marriage not so much just because in the secular voting system religious groups will vote in blocks to prevent bills like that from passing... North Carolina does not have many liberals/gays to fight the religious/conservative majority.

My opinion on churches protesting gay marriage is they either need to hush themselves or give up their tax exempt status. People are much too impressionable for them to tell them what to do.
However, I feel that this will always be a problem.

I know I never will.

I took a course in my school on the issue of abortion, gay marriage, and whatnot. All of the arguments against choice... they come from God... and in reality... I'm not religious and I never will be.
User avatar #638 - thecharliesheen (05/27/2012) [-]
That's how I see it too, I see NO reason why ANY of it should have negative views. The only conclusion I come to is religion. Which if people don't want it forced on them, fine, whatever. But they shouldn't have a say in other people doing it.

it's a case of religion vs. secular ideals.

On one side you have divine morality passed down to be observed by humans.

On the other side you have relative morals defined by the liberal masses.

The question is which side takes precedence. I'm happy the debate exists, though. Imagine if no one ever called out abortion protocols. You could just abort whenever and no one would care... Having those people who refuse to want abortion sort of gives us a buffer, eh?
User avatar #615 - thecharliesheen (05/27/2012) [-]
It's true, it definitely gives us a thinking buffer. Who knows, maybe I'l change my ideals one day. It's not likely, but it COULD happen. Also it gives a little flavor to the world in one way in or another.

totally. After a month, I swear, you're just a tiny anus. That's it. No nerves, organs, or LIFE. Just a floating anus. To say that a mother is condemned to allow that anus to become a life is just downright cruel. Obviously after 4 months when the child starts developing its neural network and can feel pain... well you have issues.

The way I test a pro-lifer's convictions is by asking them if they would save a mother if she were dying in labour by killing the child. If they say yes, they are hypocrites. Always fun to catch someone off guard with it :D
User avatar #606 - thecharliesheen (05/27/2012) [-]
The best way to test 'em is to wait until they (or they're underage teenage daughters) get pregnant and wait and see if they have an under-the-table abortion. Happens with staunch pro-life politicians all the time. Makes me sick. I mean, I definitely don't think that their daughter should be forced to carry it just because her dad has his political career to think of, but it definitely pisses me off when they continue to condemn others who do it just because they're not 'famous'.
The whole issue is a clusterfuck.

but the way they see it, abortion is murder.

I don't approve of murder, but you do. Should I let you keep murdering people? xD

Not a pro-lifer... but I think that's their issue.
User avatar #584 - thecharliesheen (05/27/2012) [-]
Well, unfortunately, it's a scientific (and slightly religious) debate over whether it's actually MURDER.
In my eyes, until a certain point, it isn't a baby, it's a cell. It's no different than extracting a cell from your body.
HOWEVER, I respect the fact that you (or they) think differently. But they need to respect that it isn't a SET stature of murder, and that it IS the womans choice because it IS her body.
You know what I mean?
