She let Goku do what he wanted because she couldn't stop him, but she could stop Gohan when Goku wasn't around and she did. The only really weird part about that is why Goten wasn't treated the same way, but I guess she did miss Goku's childish antics and didn't want to make Goten another Gohan since Goku was, at that point, not coming back as far as she knew. But Gohan wasn't allowed to train at all up until the tournament. That's more than just trying to keep him from ditching the family to train.

bluemagebrilly (12/23/2015) [-] Wanting to keep your kid safe is fine. Wanting to keep him sheltered and not use what strength he does have because you don't like it is another thing entirely. Wanting to make sure your kid is smart is fine. Wanting your kid to be smart for your sake is another thing entirely. She didn't want Gohan to be like Goku, that's fine. That's excusable. But Gohan liked fighting, was good at it, and didn't have brain damage like Goku did so he was very book smart already. Making him throw all that way and potentially putting the entire world at risk because of it just makes her a shallow minded character. She let Goku do all his training and fighting and look at what it cost he chose training multiple times over spending time with his son. So, she also did not want him to be the type to ditch his family just for the sake of getting stronger. #12 -

bluemagebrilly (12/23/2015) [-] How is it wrong? <(' '<); She's a shallow and extremely angry person that tries to keep her kid from fighting the evil only he can defeat just so he can "do well later in life." Completely missing the idea that there's no way to do anything in that life if the Earth is destroyed. Completely breaks Gohan's character down after Goku isn't around to keep him training too, so now he's useless despite his power. Unless there's some appealing factor I'm not aware of, then she's a pretty bad character... And she does not look good, but that's just a matter of opinion. >Being protective of your son who wants to fight super beings yep 10/10 good mom >Wants her son to be more than a complete idiot like his father #10 -

lackofcareingerer (12/24/2015) [-] i mean, Im american, and i think I have the majority of the countris in the world. Granted the Baltics and some of that shit in africa fucks me over, but I dont really get why people arent that interested in where the fuck everything is. I only took 1 semester of geography and I did a pretty shitty job in my freshmen year of highschool (i was just kinda a shit student), but most of the countries in the world are not hard to pick up if people would open a god damn book. #48 -
anon (12/24/2015) [-] I'm an american Technically, because I live in the american continent and can pinpoint any country anywhere in the map. Even the ones that don't exist anymore. I had Geography of the world a whole year in High School, and only learned Geography of my country till the last year I've been studying it since Elementary tho I mean, I had about the americas in middle school, not specifically USA. I can only point to the big states, like Cali, Washington, New York and Florida. I understand why americans don't know where fucking Polan is. #25 -
hongkonglongdong (12/24/2015) [-] I've always had a problem with that argument. No, we don't know the individual states, because we don't need to. Only the actual country, the United States, matters. So we know where that is. But we also know where Peru is. And where Nigeria is. And Burma, and Papua New Guinea. Because they are their own states, and they are independently important to us. If the US split up, I guarantee you people would learn where each of the states were; but because they are united, we don't. It's the same with other huge states. Like, I know where Manchuria is in China because of Victorian geopolitics, and that's it. #30 -
hongkonglongdong (12/24/2015) [-] You don't seem to understand what I mean. When we learn about the US, we learn about the US. Not its individual states. We might learn about Birmingham and New York and Los Angeles, but we don't learn about the states themselves. And why would we? They are just part of the US. Obviously, there is no great political union in unions beyond trade deals and the like in, say, South East Asia, and continents are just continents. Also Peru has cool Incas, Burma and Papua New Guinea and Nigeria were part of our empire, and Nigeria is also a very important power now. #16 -
nationalanthem (12/24/2015) [-] i can draw the wold map pretty much my memory.. didn't learn to do that in school.. no excuses. #14 -
anon (12/24/2015) [-] Can you show me the federal states of Austria or Germany? At least someone should know where the countries are. I'm British and I can point out Florida, California, New York, Alaska, Hawai'i and Texas on a map. No clue about any of the other states. #49 -
anon (12/24/2015) [-] I'm an American and I can point out France, Germany, Italy, and Russia out on the map. Same concept, you just named the biggest and most well known states. I doubt you could point out Iowa on the map just like how I can't point out the Czech Republic. Just saying, same concept. I wasn't bragging - I was pointing out that I only know a small handful of states. I'm American and I know where most of the countries in europe are, though to be fair I do fall apart when we get to the south east of them and most of the former soviet block, except for ukraine granted it does help me when I can see the lines for political maps, I am not good when it comes to topographical or terrain maps Also it is fine you don't know all the states, I live there and I still mix up the heart land Because North America consists of 3 nations. We know their borders fine I also don't expect british people to know the locations of the different counties in France and Spain. I can point out the capital, Nevada and the border between alaska and canada No, we learn by country and Capitol of other countries here, So it doens't matter how big you are or if you're a super-fluper-superpower: Land and Capitol, although we did have to learn the USA at some point, but it was just the states and a few big cities. That may seem easy but we have to learn this for almost all continents and countries, and it can get quite hard when you're 13 and have to learn all lands in Africa and some of their capitols. But we don't learn a lot more about European countries besides a few more large cities and everything in your own country. It's a lot easier to learn states that you probably live in and which you hear a lot about because they are in your own country and travel to them than having to learn names and capitols of countries you never heard of or only once or twice. Really your countries and our states are the same thing (sort of) I can't tell you the capitol of Arkansas even though I live 3 states from it. Most of France probably can't tell me the capitol of Belarus or Bulgaria. And we have a class dedicated to learning capitols and countries and all as well, but most people take it in middle school, so by time you can use it you don't remember it all. In the end, every country has a lot of stupid people, the only problem is that those of the USA get a lot more media attention. It's also a lot easier for them to get media attention. Not only are there tons more people here, but everyone speaks english on the media. I know a lot of countries teach english in school over there. It's easier for other people to say shit about what comes from us when everyone can understand it. Harder when only swedes can understand their shit etc. Well, the most newsworthy shit happens in America, if something happens in Sweden it's simply subbed, so that doesn't make sense in my book Europe has more than 500 million people, I don't get your point Sweden is a few times the size of the Netherlands, which has 17 million people, size doesn't mean anything, but I get your point, we have less individual stupidness because each of us has not more than 100 million. No. Then again, Florida, Ohio and so on are just parts of the US, while European countries are sovereign nations on their own. You couldnt tell me where Saxony lies within Germany, or where Wales is located in the UK. From a geographic perspective however it makes no real sense, since most states are bigger than an European country on average #13 -
anon (12/24/2015) [-] True, but my finger covers the whole of Germany on a map - therefore I am guaranteed to be correct. If I ask you where Kansas City, Kansan, is (on the same map) you couldn't put your finger on it. But by population, California (with nearly 40 million people) is bigger than most European countries. We have 11 states with more than 10 million people in them (four of which are over 20 million), which makes them fairly sizable. That makes them more geopolitically relevant than a number of European countries. Which is a flaw in the education. Overall, those states aren't very important. We're not going to have to wait through tense negotiations between Arizona and Utah, while fearing that Nevada might come in to try and take advantage of the situations. European countries, however, are far more important- they are sovereign nations and have differing laws, governments, etc etc. Says the euro fag where it is nearly impossible to own guns and amo without being apart of the military. If the citizens of the USA felt like it, they could wage scorched earth warfare against each other. What the fuck can your citizens do? Oh right, they simulate gun fire and get arrested by the police. Considering how pathetic your armed forces AND citizenry are in comparison to ours, you like to boast much. #20 -
anon (12/24/2015) [-] Don't you have a child who bit a Pop-Tart into the shape of a gun to suspend? Yeah, because Americans are always glued to their TV's, terrified of whether Norway and Finland can decide who owns one square mile before World War 3 breaks out. Belgian politics definitely impact us less than Californian politics, because California's part of our country and has 40 million citizens.
