greyblade (01/08/2015) [-] the 2003 simply put, Hiromu Arakawa - the artist of the original manga - was a much better story writer than whoever got the job at the animation studio. I like both brotherhood and the 2003 FMA. But i think the brotherhood story had a few plot holes and counted on too many enemies switching sides to help Ed and Al to keep them around. Also I think there were a few character that were inconsistent. Like Armstrong's sister. #41 -
greyblade (01/08/2015) [-] I'm going to ask for some examples, since I didn't feel like that at all. on the other hand, I feel the 2003 story ruined a bunch of characters. Lust. she's not a victim, she's not related to anyone else. she enjoys having power over others, and abuses that fact. I don't believe in evil per se, but she was malicious to the core. the 2003 series tried to make her - arguably one of the least sympathetic characters - into a soppy victim story. Van Hoenheim. he is a victim. possibly the ultimate victim. he was used by Father, watched as his entire culture was destroyed, and then spent hundreds of years tormented by the spirits of half of them. does he break? no. he talks to each and every spirit, spends his life trying to make things right and despite making some mistakes along the way (Ed & Al's childhood, etc) he did what he could to be a good man, even when it eventually killed him. the 2003 series tried to make him look like a 3rd rate retired bad guy. that's just rude. plus, the whole political intrigue side of the brotherhood story felt a lot more mature than my ma's a baddie, but maybe not? also evil old lady. #90 -
anon (01/09/2015) [-] I personally like what the 2003 anime did with the humunculi, and didn't feel as though the character development ruined the characters. I still prefer brotherhood but I liked the way humunculi were born and the darker tone it set, they weren't purely villains and you could feel sorry for them while simultaneously hating them. Lust's character did change a great deal, but adding humanity wasn't terrible, and I didn't think she was ruined by the depth they added. As for Hoenheim, I felt his character was done better in brotherhood, but I didn't feel that his character was terrible in the 2003 version, he seemed as though he was regretful old man attempting to atone for his sins. I wouldn't say his character was "ruined" either, there was no point in the series that I can remember where his character changed much. I still enjoyed FMA:B but it felt way too cartooney for me - instead of there being alchemy, it was basically magic. #23 -
omfgninjaneer (01/08/2015) [-] Brotherhood also follows the manga while the older series was made before the manga was finished. #10 -
anon (01/08/2015) [-] there are two series, full metal alchemist and full metal alchemist brotherhood watch brotherhood if u wanna watch any #111 -
anon (01/09/2015) [-] FMA is still totally awesome in its own right though. If you want to enjoy both you should watch FMA before FMA:B. FMA goes off in its own direction by request of the author. Both do a good job of fleshing out and exploring the characters. Neither has any filler episodes. FMA has better custom musical tracks while FMA:B often uses semi-generic music. They start off on the same page but neither tells the same story the same way and they split away from each other pretty quickly. It's honestly a better experience if you watch FMA and then FMA:B, but there's nothing wrong with just watching the superior version. #28 -
mralamo (01/08/2015) [-] they saw the manga and thought: this shit's good we'll make an animé on it, and when we run out of material we'll just make stuff up. And when the manga finishes we will do an animé on that too... more money. but from the reviews on Fullmetal Alchemist i've gotten from my friends, i've decided that it's a tad too weird for me. #114 -
rollfourexplain (01/09/2015) [-] **rollfourexplain used "*roll 1, 0-9999*"** **rollfourexplain rolls 6,780** The shows name is Ed Edd and Eddy, after the three main characters. Fullmetal Alchemist (FMA and FMA:B) is the anime in the picture. It has a caption that is something a character from Ed Edd and Eddy says. In Fullmetal Alchemist there is a character called Edward who is interchangeably referred to and goes by Ed. | ||

hillbillypowpow (12/17/2014) [-] Didn't Odysseus only bang Ceres, and only while all hypnotized and shit? #97 -
thebigbadjefe (12/17/2014) [-] Alright, just in case, SPOILER ALERT 3 points I'd like to make: 1) The name is Circe. Perhaps you read a certain version that used a different spelling. 2) Not hypnotized, remember? He got help from Hermes, and didn't end up transformed, as his men were. 3) Calypso also had him on her island for 7 years, probably had tons of godly sex ifyouknowwhattimsayin wink wink Bonus! He saw about-16-year-old Nausicaa naked. Not exactly ravenous, but definitely not pure. And yes, I understand it was out of his control, but still. #100 -
hillbillypowpow (12/17/2014) [-] Oh yeah, Circe. Ceres is a different thing, I got them mixed up. plus populating their armies was a big thing so sometimes guys had to impregnate women for rewards from the king, it's a win win really >Ancient Greece >Stoned to death apart from that I agree with you Modern statistics show that the average man has 7 partners, but the average woman has 4. Take from that what you will. Greek men would have sex with women, other men, children, animals, and inanimate objects. #93 -
