There's no level cap, mang, just boost up your INT and take all the perks

The stuff you want for sniper are in Perception or Agility and maybe Luck. I went for mainly in Agility and Luck even though Luck is kinda meh, I took Sneak, Mister Sandman and Ninja in Agility and Bloody Mess in Luck and only Rifleman in Perc. but could also take the last. End up one shotting or almost one shotting everything with 4x damage headshots while sneaking.

My first character was just a brute type guy so I never paid any attention to the sneak related stuff. I had an insanly modded hunting rifel that was strong AF, but I couldn't utilize it cause my character was not built for it. I just remembered I can add to these when I level so i'll just max out my Agility and luck asap.

Agility has the Ninja perk and stuff for guns. It's good for sneak attacks and criticals.

They're actually very strong in New Vegas...if you take the relevant perks. Just one of those imbalance things that often creep into the Fallout games.

Same with pip guns in 4 though. Enough mods to it and it can be pretty good. It's just shit at first.

I never liked guns having their damage influenced too much by skills/perks. The bullet doesn't care whose finger pulled the trigger.

If your weapons are super good without you having to specialize in them at all, they're not very balanced weapons. It's no secret that New Vegas' ballistic weapons are overpowered, even after they nerfed the crit chance on sniper rifles. When I play an RPG, even an action RPG, I like to be able to build around certain items, whether it be weapons, armor, or a magic necklace that just happens to make my goofy-ass build work.

I can understand that, but you can do this by manipulating reload speed, improving time it takes to clear a jam and reducing weapon sway. But having a pistol have trouble killing a radroach on lvl1 and oneshooting a deathclaw at lvl99 using the same weapon and ammo, it just breaks immersion.

Not really. Your character progressed, and became more skilled, which is exactly the sort of thing skills and perks are meant to simulate. You start off as some kid with a pistol and become Vash the Stampede.

Also, radroaches are pretty much killed in one hit by every single weapon.

On the other hand they made your accuracy independant of your skill, which was the most relevant thing with them

Well, they pretty much ditched the whole skill system an replaced it entirely with perks. It may not be truest to the series, but the new system suits me better. It doesn't make sensless distinction between energy weapons and standard guns like the old one did. Principles of shooting a rifle are the same, while they are different from shooting short arms or melee combat.

That being said, I would have appreciated an option to strip down a gun into individual mods instead of scrapping it altogether or having to build the basic part when all I want is that frickin scope.

I...prefered Fallout with more RPG elements even if it is easier to play with any gun
